πŸ“’ Important Update from RAEC Plasterboards

Hi everyone β€” we want to keep you in the loop!
As we're fully booked through to September and have a knee surgery coming up, we won't be taking on new quotes until then.

We're committed to doing right by our existing clients and getting through our current jobs with the same quality and care you expect from us.

Thank you for your ongoing support β€” it truly means a lot. We'll be back bigger and better before you know it! πŸ’ͺ

Ceiling crack repair and re-attachment completed last week.

The cracks had formed along a recess join with no backing, which allowed seasonal movement to open the joints.

We couldn’t access the top of the crack from inside the ceiling cavity, so we relieved a small section of the ceiling to install proper timber backing and secure it correctly.

The ceiling had also started detaching because the wrong screws were originally used. When fixing plasterboard to timber framing you must use 32mm coarse thread plasterboard screws.

Once everything was secured, the joint was repaired, flushed and sanded.

Total time on site: 7.5 hours start to finish.

Ready for paint.

This carport ceiling failed for a few reasons.

First β€” the wrong screws were used.
25mm fine thread screws (for steel framing) were used instead of 32mm coarse thread screws for timber. Over time they work themselves loose as the frame moves with seasonal changes.

-Second β€” there was no insulation in the ceiling cavity, which can cause the adhesive to break down.

Third β€” the sheets above the roller door were exposed to weather, which you can see from the rusted screws in the video.

So we fixed it.

Damaged sections removed.
Ceiling insulated with R2.5.
Aquachek plasterboard installed above the roller door.
Remaining ceiling re-secured with the correct screws.

Flushed to Level 4 and painted.

Problem solved. πŸ‘Œ

Sometimes the quickest way to get a clean cut.

Anyone else using a multitool for this, or sticking with the knife? πŸ‘‡
