When you choose to build with nature, you’re not just starting a project – you're committing to a legacy.

This journey has never been a solo effort. It has always been driven by those who saw the potential of bamboo before the rest of the world caught on. People, like you, who saw what was possible, believed in the vision, and chose to invest their energy into a better future.

Bamboo U just published a beautiful feature story on my path, where our mission stands today, and why Australia is finally getting ready for a bamboo revolution.

If you believe in building with purpose, take a few minutes to read the story today. See where we are, where we’re going, and why this mission belongs to all of us

New rattan weaves have landed.

Radio weave has been one of our most requested designs, so we've created CW161 in both brown and black. It comes pre-finished too, which means no staining. It's ready to work with straight away.

Alongside it is CW168 in a lovely cool brown, and CW178, a new closed weave in a raw, classic natural tone. Its tighter construction makes it ideal for seating, joinery and ceiling frames, anywhere you want texture with a bit more structure.

All three are available now on our website in 600mm widths, ordered by the linear metre.

Want to feel them first? Order samples online, give the team a call, or visit the showroom.

Ever walked into a room and felt your shoulders drop?

That's what we built at the in Melbourne this week. The [Lifed] Pavilion is a calm, glowing space with walls made entirely of our woven bamboo matchstick screening. The same material you might know as , used here at full room scale, filtering light and creating privacy without closing the space in.

It's a good preview of what bamboo screening can do at home: soften harsh light, add natural texture, screen off a room or an outdoor area without blocking it out completely. And because bamboo regrows from its own roots after harvest, it's one of the most renewable materials you can build with. This pavilion will be reused, come back to us and continue its life in projects around Australia.

If you work in design, entry is free for trade professionals, so come and stand inside it before the show wraps up on Friday 17th July at the . And if you're dreaming up changes at home, the same material is ready when you are: browse our matchstick blinds and bamboo screening at houseofbamboo.com.au or visit us in Botany.

Thanks to , and for such a wonderful collaboration.

First Building has landed on Dharug Country in Western Sydney, and we're proud to have our engineered bamboo on the facade.
Designed by Hassell with First Nations design practice Djinjama, it's the first building of the new Bradfield city. The whole thing works as a kit of parts: prefabricated modules that can be taken apart, expanded or relocated rather than demolished.
We supplied over 1,000m² of engineered bamboo batten screens, inside and out, including the rooftop chimneys and lanterns. Bamboo carries roughly a quarter less embodied carbon than average timber per cubic metre, which is part of why it earned its place here.
A building designed to come apart, made from a material that gives back. That's the kind of project we want more of.

A full engineered bamboo frame. Certified as primary structure. Built to stand up to Australian load and climate.

For years, Jed Long's woven bamboo made people fall in love with the material. This cabin is where that vision grows up.
A full engineered laminated bamboo frame, exposed and certified as primary structure, on a remote wetland-edge site where steel would have struggled. No hidden steel. No decorative dressing. The bamboo is the structure.

Getting it approved was the hard part. Australia has no design table for structural bamboo, so every calculation had to be modelled and signed off from scratch. That paperwork now becomes the reference for the next build. And with verified EPDs behind the material, the environmental case arrives documented, not argued.
One cabin. A whole pathway for what bamboo can do next.
