"Ballet, the beauty of light and movement " a collection of 10 Paintings by Garry Dolan is now on exhibition at the Thomas Dixon Center, home of Queensland Ballet untill 1 October.
Garry discovered his passion for painting ballet on holiday in Bulgaria - a chance meeting in line at a coffee shop became a study of elite ballet dancers from Australia , Asia, Europe and USA . This exhibition is a collection of Garry’s favourite dancers and scenes painted since 2020. Two Queensland Ballet Stars feature - current Pricipal Artist Neneka Yoshida and former artist Patricio Reve.
"Since being introduced to ballet in 2020 by a young Australian ballerina in Bulgaria, I have become enchanted by what is one the most beautiful and inspiring art forms in the world. I see a dancer performing and am driven by the thought of trying to capture the beauty of the dancer’s body with its liquid movement, at one with the music and communicating through choreography, the costumes and sets, the exchange of human energy — audience and dancer. "
These artworks and prints are available for sale, the catalogue is available at the customer service desk, a 10% donation to Queensland Ballet is included.
