Every now and then someone asks if I can sell their sounds on Narfsounds.com
The answer is no.
Narfsounds isn’t a marketplace where anyone can upload a pack and put it up for sale.
The value isn’t in having a large catalog of random sounds. The value is in solving specific problems for keyboard players in live bands.
Can a keyboard player accept a gig on short notice because they already have the sounds?
Can they learn a new song without spending hours programming?
Can they walk into a rehearsal knowing the splits, layers, scenes, samples and controller assignments have already been thought through?
Can they expand their band’s repertoire because the sounds are no longer a barrier?
Those are the problems I’m trying to solve.
Every performance in a Narfsounds pack has been selected, programmed, tested and refined with those goals in mind. Many have gone through multiple revisions over several years.
If a customer has a question, needs support, wants an explanation of how something works, or needs help adapting a performance to their own setup, I need to know the product inside and out.
There have only been a handful of exceptions. Harry and I co-developed the Movie and TV Themes Pack for the Yamaha Montage and Favorite Covers Sets 1 and 2 for the Roland Fantom. Even then, we were on FaceTime multiple times a day comparing notes, testing changes and refining sounds. Those projects took roughly twice as long because we both wanted the end result to meet the same standards as everything else on the site.
I can’t impose my standards on someone else’s work, and I can’t confidently support a product that I didn’t create or help create.
That’s why every product on Narfsounds has my name behind it.
