We're in. Gregory Hills office fitout is done. Modern workspace, scalable layout, upgraded servers and data storage, and AV systems to keep us connected with our team and clients nationally — built to grow with the business.

Big thanks to the our builder and trades who made it happen. The team's settled in and it already feels like home.

Plenty of good cafes and pubs on the doorstep too. Clients and mates in the industry — you're welcome any time. Swing past, coffee's on us.

The team are at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre this week for the Leica Future Forum.

We’ve built up a lot of experience using the Leica products and events like this are a good opportunity to put that into the room. What’s working, where the real efficiencies are, how to get better data quality, reduce time impacts and increase productivity.

The industry improves when people share what they actually know. We’re happy to be part of that conversation.

Dense vegetation doesn't have to mean guesswork on your ground levels.

At RC Surveys, we're experts in airborne LiDAR with drone photogrammetry to do far more than just map ground levels under canopy.

LiDAR captures the full vegetation profile — individual tree heights, canopy spread, density and trunk locations. That data feeds directly into vegetation classification models and 3D clearance analysis.

Two areas where this delivers exceptional results:
Powerline easement encroachment — LiDAR identifies exactly which trees and branches breach minimum clearance envelopes around conductors. Instead of crews walking kilometres of easement through rough terrain, we deliver a prioritised encroachment register with height data, proximity to conductors, and GPS coordinates. Asset owners get targeted clearing schedules, not blanket vegetation removal.

Transport route clearance mapping — for road and rail corridors, we've mapped vegetation encroachments into design envelopes, overhead clearance zones, and sight distances. This is critical for new corridor planning, upgrade design, and ongoing maintenance programs where overgrown vegetation creates safety and compliance risks for transport operators.

The combination of ground surface data, full canopy modelling, and high-res drone imagery gives engineers and asset managers a complete dataset — delivered faster and safer than traditional ground survey in difficult terrain.

Get in touch if you've got vegetation challenges on your next project.

Road & Civil Surveys have been appointed to provide construction surveying services on the M5 Westbound Upgrade Project — a design and construct contract awarded to Seymour Whyte by Transport for NSW, with construction commencing in 2026.

The project will reduce congestion and remove existing traffic weaves on the westbound carriageway of the M5 Motorway, improve access to the Liverpool CBD, deliver a new 290-metre bridge over the Georges River with pedestrian and cyclist links, and strengthen freight connectivity to the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal. It's a significant investment in network reliability for one of Sydney's fastest growing corridors.

Our team will deliver surveying services for the new 290m bridge and associated civil and pavement works across the project — supporting the project team with design validation, construction set out, and as-built documentation in a live motorway environment. It's the kind of complex, staged infrastructure delivery where precision spatial data directly supports program, safety, and quality outcomes.

We're looking forward to working alongside Seymour Whyte and the wider project team on another major motorway project for Sydney's south-west.

We’ll be heading to the 2026 Leica Future Forum in Brisbane in just a few weeks.

Always valuable to get in the room with the industry to see where technology is heading, and explore the tools shaping the future of surveying, reality capture, construction, and digital delivery.

Looking forward to connecting with the team at Leica Geosystems part of Hexagon and catching up with our peers across the sector.

Most people don't think about what keeps a rail corridor performing safely while construction happens around it.

That's where monitoring comes in. Track alignment, structure movement, ground settlement — measured and reported so projects make decisions on data, not assumptions.

It's what keeps trains running and projects moving.

When we opened our Eight Mile Plains office, it was a foothold in the QLD market. A small team backing up our NSW operations 2 years ago.

Clients across South East Queensland started leaning on our experience in construction surveying, 3D scanning, and drone operations — and they kept coming back. The team grew. The pipeline grew.

So we've made the move to Bowen Hills — a bigger base in the middle of Brisbane's CBD.

A key part of that next chapter — Ethan Aylward stepping into our management team, helping drive QLD operations on the ground.

More capacity. Stronger team. Same standards.

If you need surveying capacity you can count on long term, come grab a coffee or lunch at the new office. We'd love to chat.
