~ Designing Kids & Teen Bedrooms?
Here are 7 go-to tips I always consider to make the space both beautiful and functional!
1. Plan For Future Growth – Choose furniture that adapts over time (bigger beds, bunks, timeless desks, and flexible layouts).
2. Smart Storage – Baskets, built-ins and under-bed drawers help keep clutter in check and makes tidying easier and every parent loves that!
3. Let Their Style Lead – Get them involved in the design! Use art, bedding and decor to reflect their interests—but keep your key pieces neutral.
4. Create Distinct Zones – Even in smaller rooms, defining areas for sleep, study, play and chill makes the space feel intentional and balanced.
5. Built to Last - Use durable materials. From wipeable walls to sturdy fabrics, kids will test your choices!
6. Layer Your Lighting – Think soft bedside lighting, practical study lights and a main ambient source.
7. Theme It Smart – Even if you’re going for a theme, keep the larger items like beds, wardrobes, and paint colours neutral so the room can evolve easily with a few styling swaps.
Whether you’re starting from scratch or refreshing a space, these tips will help you design a room that’s stylish, practical, and easy to evolve.
