LOCAL COMMUNITIES FIRST

A fair share from Canada’s natural resources.

When resource development proceeds, local communities should share in lasting value—and workers and contractors should be protected by clear, enforceable rules.

This proposal would split audited surplus 50/50 between companies and investors, and a People’s Resource Trust, after fair worker pay, verified costs, cleanup obligations, and an agreed return on invested capital.

The trust could support worker gain sharing, community investment, and savings for the future.

The worker protections are built into the policy: existing contractor rates are a floor; efficiency gains add to pay instead of cutting rates; contractors get prompt payment and independent rate review; and transition support helps when production falls.

Executive bonuses should reward safe work, fair pay, cleanup, and long-term value—not stock gains alone.

Every person—white, Black, Indigenous, and every background—deserves equal dignity and protection. First Nations’ rights, treaties, and written agreements must be honored.

This proposal does not decide that every project should proceed. It sets out how resource wealth could be shared more fairly when development does happen, with environmental review, cleanup, and community impacts taken seriously. Would you support this approach?
