For nearly 50 years, the family behind Dutch Heritage Greenhouse has been growing chrysanthemums in Chilliwack, BC.

But as production demands increased, maintaining consistency, especially through winter, became more challenging. Seasonal swings, older controls, and unpredictable climate conditions pushed the operation to rethink its greenhouse strategy.

Recently, Dutch Heritage upgraded to Priva, transforming the way the greenhouse operates. The result? A more stable climate, improved crop consistency, smoother operations, and a greenhouse that finally feels fully connected.

What stood out most was not just the technology itself, but how everything now works together. Lighting, climate, irrigation, airflow, and energy management all operating as one integrated environment.

We sat down with Floris Breugem to hear the full story behind the transition, the challenges of upgrading while still producing crops, and what modern greenhouse control now means for their future.

As greenhouse conditions shift throughout the season, your heating strategy needs to adapt with them.

At the Resilient Greenhouse Systems Workshops, we’ll take a practical look at how to fine-tune boiler strategy as light levels increase and heat demand drops, without compromising crop performance.

In this session, we’ll cover:

• How heat demand changes as radiation and crop activity increase
• Balancing heating input with ongoing CO₂ needs
• Adjusting boiler settings during low-demand periods
• Using system data to reduce unnecessary energy use
• Making more informed, real-time climate decisions

This is about moving beyond fixed strategies — and learning how to respond dynamically to changing greenhouse conditions.

From testing floor to greenhouse floor. This NutriJet system is fully commissioned, tested, and ready to ship to a grower in Kingsville, Ontario.

What stands out isn’t just the build quality. It’s the intelligence behind it.

NutriJet delivers highly precise nutrient dosing, ensuring crops receive exactly what they need, when they need it. No guesswork. No compromise.

And when integrated with Priva climate and process controllers, it becomes something more powerful: A fully connected system where irrigation, climate, and crop strategy work as one.

This is where precision meets performance.

Stronger control. Smarter decisions. Better crops.

Energy is no longer just a cost, it’s a strategic decision.

At the ACT Leamington Grower Summit, Timme Hovinga, Product Director at Priva, will lead a session on how growers can turn energy challenges into a competitive advantage.

In “Energy as a strategy: Building resilient greenhouse operations,” Timme will explore how energy volatility, increasing electrification, and peak demand pressures are reshaping greenhouse production and what growers can do about it.

From aligning crop plans with energy strategy to improving efficiency and stabilizing margins, this session will focus on practical approaches to navigating today’s high-demand environment.
