Delay, delay, and more delays—is this the norm for civil engineering projects?🧐

In our discussions with numerous EPC companies and contractors, we repeatedly hear the same word:
"Delay."

Project managers have privately told us that of the dozens of projects they've delivered in the past few years,
only a handful were actually completed on schedule.

The process hasn't changed,
The equipment list has long been finalized,
And the construction personnel are all in place,

But the progress is still repeatedly delayed.

Many times, this isn't a design problem, nor a budget problem,
but rather the inherent "uncontrollability" of civil engineering projects themselves.

A single on-site coordination error,
A rework process,
Or even a sudden downpour,

can directly disrupt an already tight schedule.

In wastewater treatment projects, this uncertainty is further amplified.

Especially for tank-related anti-corrosion construction, once it needs to be completed on-site.

Weather, environment, and labor skill levels—any variable—will increase the risk of rework and cost overruns.

So, is there a possibility—

Not to "speed up construction," but to bring key tasks forward?
For example:

Finalizing tank dimensions and starting production early in the project;

Completing the anti-corrosion system and testing in the factory, instead of leaving it for the site;

Ensuring that tank installation is as unaffected by weather as possible, reducing reliance on a large workforce.

When key structures can be delivered earlier and more reliably,
the pace of the entire project is often brought back under control.

In many wastewater treatment projects, we have seen that this approach has indeed significantly shortened the overall construction period and reduced long-term operation and maintenance pressure.

🤓🤓However, when faced with terrain limitations or special requirements from the client, flexible construction companies often find alternative solutions.

😏😏They will find a more flexible, inverted bolted storage tank to avoid secondary high-altitude operations. The lightweight material allows the base tower to support its weight, while the material's strength can withstand wind and earthquake fluctuations.

Have you ever encountered a tank construction project in a high wind speed or high earthquake zone?

As the second most populous country in the Caribbean, the Dominican Republic is located in a medium-to-high-risk wind and earthquake zone, making it susceptible to annual storms. Furthermore, humid air poses a significant corrosion challenge to the tanks.

YHR use highly corrosion-resistant GFS steel plates, along with seismic design and structural reinforcement, to provide four 3,865 m³ firewater tanks for this project. The average installation time for each tank was less than one month.
