On Sunday evening, our family business was the target of a deliberate and devastating arson attack.
At approximately 10:30pm, individuals broke into our yard and set fire to multiple vehicles, completely destroying three lorries and seriously damaging a fourth.
Thankfully, nobody was hurt and we are extremely grateful to Kent Fire & Rescue Service for their rapid response in preventing the fire from spreading further.
As many people know, our family has already been navigating an incredibly difficult period following the sudden loss of our brother. To now face this has been deeply upsetting for all of us.
Macavis is a family run business supporting around 30 staff members and their families and despite this attack, we remain fully operational and committed to our customers. One damaged vehicle was repaired and back on the road by the following morning, and our screening operations continue as normal.
The amount of support, calls and messages we have received has been overwhelming and genuinely appreciated. However, our focus now needs to be on finding the individual(s) responsible for this reckless and dangerous act.
We are working closely with Kent Police and would urge anyone who may have seen suspicious activity in the area around 10:30pm on Sunday evening to come forward.
Crime Reference Number: 46/74275/26
A REWARD is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.
We are also trying to protect our children and wider family from any further distress during what is already an incredibly difficult time, so if anyone has any information that may help, please contact Kent Police directly.
Thank you again to everyone who has supported us.
