Who are we : Mr Arkwrights tool emporium

Mr Arkwrights first opened in the heart of harrogate over 20 years ago as a traditional hardware store and goldmine of all things DIY.

The name Mr Arkwright has long been known in Yorkshire and the UK from the 1976 TV series "Open all hours" based on the character Albert Arkwright the shopkeeper . The series featured the famous "Fork Handles" sketch and a display referencing the sketch currently sits in the shop window for anyone to snap a photo of when passing by .

Today the store sits at the top of commercial street , recognisable by our classic traditional look, catching the eyes of many with our large window displays inviting you in to discover even more . A perfect gem for locals and tourists.

Now in 2025 we have launched our website with a massive selection of over 10,000 products . Your ultimate destination for DIY , home improvement and lifestyle essentials .
