Exciting times here at the new hide!
The kingfishers around our first hide are now both busy feeding and taking fish back to the nest, which means it won’t be long before the fledglings make their first appearance. Nature really does have perfect timing.
At the same time, the fish in our main lakes are beginning to spawn, meaning there will soon be millions of tiny fry in the water — the ideal food source for young kingfishers learning to hunt. As the fledgelings spread their wings and begin searching for new territories, we’re hopeful our new dive pool will become a regular feeding spot, giving guests an even greater chance of witnessing the magic up close
Our new hide is also fitted with a full camera monitoring system, allowing us to study and log visiting wildlife activity. As the video shows, it’s already attracting some very colourful characters! Even better, the camera system will also be available for guests staying in the hide to use themselves, adding a completely new dimension to the wildlife watching experience.
We’re currently aiming to open the new hide in mid to late June, and we genuinely can’t wait to share it with everyone.
