Marmoleum is made from up to 98% natural materials and is certified climate positive (carbon negative) from cradle to gate - without offsetting.

Manufactured from natural raw materials, including renewable plant-based materials such as linseed oil, wood flour, jute, and natural rosin, which makes Marmoleum unique as it has a CO₂ uptake in the product itself. The photosynthesis process of all plants used in Marmoleum absorbs more CO₂ than is emitted by the raw material transport and production processing of the end product.

The raw materials, coupled with an efficient facility powered by renewable electricity, mean that Marmoleum actually achieves a carbon negative footprint at the production stage!

REFERENCE | University of London student union space

Our Marmoleum and Tessera collections were both recently specified by Story Design in its refurbishments to the SOAS University of London student union space. To reflect the diversity within the university, Story Design opted to specify a wide range of vibrant colourways, as well as utilising our Aquajet cutting service to create a bespoke globe design in the reception area. Sustainability was also a key consideration for this project, leading to our Marmoleum Cocoa flooring being installed – credit to its high sustainable credentials.

REFERENCE | Bristol beacon music venue

A Grade II listed music venue first opened in 1867, Bristol Beacon has seen continued development across its history. The latest refurbishment was carried out by Gollop Contract Flooring, who selected our Tessera Topology and Surestep Original floor coverings.

As a result of the end user’s environmental expectations, Tessera Topology was an ideal choice, with a recycled content of over 75% and an embodied carbon of less than 1.5 kg CO2 per square metre, cradle to gate, without offsetting. It also delivered exceptional underfoot comfort and durability, perfect for a busy space like this.
