A broken bonnet catch cable does not end at fitting the new cable.

Whilst the vehicle owner was trying to open the bonnet to fill there washer bottle the cable snapped.
Not a great problem I hear you all say!!!!
To get the locked bonnet open the VW badge is removed to try and gain access.
Once in there the next thing that is removed was the radar, at this point the alarm bells ring a little because now it will require an ADAS calibration.

This simple job has now become a whole lot bigger, in price and effort required, the modern motor car, is it a step to far these days.

Calibrate and repair of mot equipment.

Busy day today working alongside Mike from M&M Garage equipment.
Mike arrives every 6 month to carry out our compulsory DVSA calibrations, he checked the brake testing rolling road and head lamp beam setter.
Whilst here we replaced the jacking beam hydraulic pump.
All great and no down time being a Bank holiday…… thanks Mike great service as usual.

An MOT fail needing addressed prior to its due date.

What seemed like a faulty drivers front crash sensor if you go by what the magic box says.
As explained to many of you the magic box provides a guide ,an area of examination and testing but not always the culprit.
In this case we used correct wiring diagrams to see what each wire should deliver.
After testing, we had a break or short to ground to find.
As seen in picture a small corroded hole in the wire well away from the perfectly serviceable sensor.
This damage seems to have been caused by 10 years of rubbing and vibration.
Repair had to be 100mm of new wire to eradicate the rotten wire, soldered at each end, wrapped and sealed.
Bingo airbag lamp off and all working, no parts just the repair.

A few pictures of the jobs that are keeping us very busy, its not all electronics and warning lamps although that is a lot.
Here we have large vehicle mot’s, wiring faults, Vauxhall wet belts (cambelt submerged in oil). Huge BMW brake discs, no two days the same here at JS45 Motor Garage & MOT Centre.

When your mate says ‘na its ok ill pop the filter in’
THEN arrives later in the day to say car is not changing gear anymore and really low power!!
He was in a panic a huge panic infact, I said retrace steps ‘you’ll have knocked a vacuum pipe off’
