Today the engineering side of the business has its focus purely on the design and fabrication of bespoke timber framed homes for the self-builder. In other words, we’ll make a timber frame to your exact requirements. If you want curved walls, we’ll give you curved walls. If you want vaulted ceilings with exposed oak beams, we’ll make it happen. Our input to your project will depend upon the stage

you’re at with it, and how much involvement you would like us to have. If you haven’t got a plot, we know how you can find one. If you just need advice, we can help. We can give you access to architectural designers, planning consultants, building regulations specialists, engineers and joiners. You can chat to them directly throughout the project just by picking up the phone.

Rain didn’t stop play today 🌧️🔨

Another timber frame self-build going up, and huge credit to the team for cracking on through the weather and getting the frame up smoothly and safely.

One of the great things about timber frame construction is the speed of er****on, helping projects move forward whatever the British weather throws at us.

Great progress on site and another step closer to this self-build becoming a home. 🏡

It's always baffled me when people ask 'how long will a timber frame home last?' Just for some reassurance, here's a fully exposed timber building (in this case, one of our grain drying stores) designed and built by English Brothers in 1961 - courtesy of a gentlemen we met at the Build It Live show in Kent earlier this year. The timber is all original.

A well-treated beam is like a good friendship: strong, supportive, and never boughs (😏) under pressure
