We are excited to share that we have been invited to develop a design proposal for a next-generation connectivity system on a superyacht, built around Nokia’s XPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) solution. Partnering with the talented teams at Channelserve, Nokia and Ruckus Networks, we’re crafting a concept that could redefine broadband at sea.
What the proposed XPON design aims to deliver:
• Fiber-class bandwidth to every cabin, bridge and entertainment zone
• Lightweight, single-backbone architecture—a game changer where space and weight are at a premium
• Seamless, high-performance Wi-Fi throughout the vessel, powered by the new Ruckus H570 APs—designed for compact, high-density environments
• Future-ready scalability so the owner can add 8K streaming, AR navigation aids and whatever the horizon brings next
Collaboration snapshot (so far):
🔹 Mak Marine is translating technical specs into marine-grade reality
🔹 Channelserve is shaping the guest-first experience requirements
🔹 Nokia is advising on redundancy, security and remote monitoring best practices
🔹 Ruckus is enabling a robust wireless layer with the new H570 APs to ensure fast, reliable Wi-Fi everywhere onboard
We’re just starting the design phase but the collective vision is clear: create a blueprint for shore-level broadband - even in the middle of the ocean.
Looking forward to the next steps and to sharing progress as the proposal evolves. If you have insights on maritime XPON deployments or advanced Wi-Fi architectures, let’s connect!
