Every industry seems to have a dedicated con man. Ours was a gentleman who claimed to have a very big hardware somewhere in Garissa.
On the day he arrived at our office, he said he had landed at the airport a few minutes ago and had come straight to RESINTUFF to place a very urgent order. He mentioned that he would bank a cheque for us once he went back, now that he knew where our offices were.
He did bank a cheque, but for a very ridiculous amount. The amount written vs the items ordered weren't adding up. The moment he did so, he called every hour to ask the status of his order. He went as far as sending his transporter to the godown.
Since it was on a Friday, we requested the gentleman to wait for the cheque to clear, after which we would release the goods.
And that is how he threw insults left right and centre and called judged our business decision making. He went ahead and locked us at the end of the call.
