What happened?
Reports indicate that a three-storey private student hostel known as Elite Five Star Lodge, located at Amaokpala in Oko, Orumba North LGA, near the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, collapsed late on Sunday night. Emergency responders, including the Police, Anambra State Fire Service, and the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), were deployed immediately to rescue occupants trapped beneath the rubble. �

What could have caused the collapse?
At this stage, nobody can responsibly identify the exact cause without a professional investigation. As a builder, you should avoid making definite claims until the official investigation is complete.
However, from an engineering perspective, possible causes of a building collapse like this include:
Foundation failure
Poor soil investigation before construction.
Foundation not designed for the actual ground conditions.
