Manifesto of Comrade Magaji Kabiru Gulu ZONE A COORDINATOR ASPIRANT.
Fellow and Esteemed Students of ZONE A.
I present myself to you as Comrade Magaji Kabiru Gulu, a passionate advocate for change and a servant of our great union. As a former Treasurer of the Students Union Government at Bayero University Kano and an aspirant for SUG President, I have witnessed firsthand the challenges we face as a generation Today, I am here to share my vision and commitment to address one of the most pressing issues confronting our society, the employment crisis among our educated and uneducated youth.
Our Reality: A Time Bomb Waiting to Explode
In Nigeria, approximately 80% of our youth are uneducated, and this alarming statistic is not just a number; it represents a ticking time bomb. These young men and women, often marginalized and disconnected from the mainstream, are at risk of falling into a cycle of unemployment and crime. Their frustrations can lead to unrest, and their disengagement from society poses a significant threat to our future, peace, and development.
Recognizing the Importance of Education
In this global knowledge-based economy, education is not just a privilege; it is a necessity. It is imperative that we address the educational disparities in Northwestern Nigeria. I believe that access to quality education is a fundamental right that must be prioritized. Education is the foundation upon which we build a prosperous future, and it is imperative that we equip our youth with the necessary skills to thrive in an increasingly competitive world.
My Vision: Empowerment Through Education and Skills Acquisition
As your representative in the National Association of Nigeria Students, I pledge to mobilize and sensitize uneducated youths about the importance of education, patriotism, and uprightness. We must remind them that they are not just the leaders of tomorrow; they are the change-makers of today.
My vision encompasses:
1. Advocacy for Special Interventions: I will actively seek the support of our state governors, federal government, policymakers, and international agencies to implement special programs aimed at empowering uneducated youths. This includes funding for skills acquisition initiatives and capacity-building workshops for educated youths in various entrepreneurships to reduce dependency on government jobs.
2. Skills Acquisition Programs: I will advocate for the establishment of vocational training centers in our communities, providing opportunities for our youth to learn trades and acquire skills that will enable them to secure meaningful employment or start their own businesses.
3. Enhancing Educational Access: I will work tirelessly to promote initiatives that improve access to quality education in Northwestern Nigeria. This includes advocating for better infrastructure, teaching resources, and scholarships for deserving students, allowing every child in my zone the opportunity to succeed.
4. Patriotism and Civic Engagement: I will launch campaigns to instill a sense of patriotism and civic responsibility among our youth. Through media, social media (new media), workshops, seminars, and community outreach, we will educate them on their rights and responsibilities as citizens, fostering a culture of engagement and accountability.
5. Partnerships with Local and International Organizations: I will seek partnerships with NGOs, foundations, and private sector players to create internship and mentorship programs that connect our youth with industry leaders and professionals, providing them with invaluable experience and guidance.
6. Mental Health and Support Services: Recognizing the emotional toll of unemployment and social disconnection, I will advocate for mental health resources and support services for our youth, ensuring they have access to the help they need to thrive.
Together, We Can Build a Brighter Future
My fellow Nigerian students, the path to a brighter future for our nation lies in empowering our youth through education, capacity building and empowerment that is not the "the business as usual empowerment", an empowerment that transforms youths into a productive entity. Together, we can transform the narrative of hopelessness into one of opportunity and growth. I urge you to join me in this journey, to stand up for our uneducated youth, and to advocate for the change we wish to see.
Let us work hand in hand to ensure that every young person in Nigeria has the opportunity to succeed, to contribute to society, and to become a proud citizen of our great nation.
