[Tip] How to Check Running Apps List in Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Later Versions
Today I'm going to share a tip for mobile phone and tablet users who have the new Google Android 6.0 Marshmallowor upcomingAndroid Nversion in their devices.
In previous Android versions, one could easily check therunning apps and services listusingSettings -> Applications -> Application Manager. The built-in Application Manager provided a list of all running apps and services and users were able to stop desired apps to improve their mobile phone performance as well as battery usage.
But in the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow and Android N versions,Google has removed the option to check running apps list from Application Manager. Now in newer Android versions, the Application Manager shows only all apps list, enabled apps list and disabled apps list. It no longer provides any option to access running apps list.
Many people are missing this good ol' option and they are wondering why Google removed this useful option from Application Manager?
Actually the option to check running apps list has not been removed butit has been moved to a different location. According to Google developer team, the option was for experts only and a basic user might stop essential apps and services accidentally using this option which might result in poor performance or OS crash, that's why Google moved the option to a different place.
Now the option to check running apps and services has been moved to hidden secret "Developer Options" page. By default, Developer Options menu is hidden in Settings page but you can enable this option using a secret trick
After enabling "Developer Options" menu in Settings, open "Developer Options" page and you'll get the good ol' option to check running apps and services as shown in following image:
As you can see the option "Running services" has been moved to "Developer Options" page in Settings from the previous "Application Manager" page.
Once you open "Running services" page in "Developer Options", you can stop any desired running app and service to free up phone's internal memory (RAM) and to improve phone's performance and battery usage.
