I am a 24 year old Product Design graduate and a real animal lover. After graduating in 2018, the search for a job that would combine both my passions for animals and creativity began. It wasn’t until the beginning of 2020, when I brought home my very first cat that caused me to find my calling. His name is Djessy, an Oriental Shorthair that soon became my favourite travel buddy. Clearly, I was

in desperate need to find travel gear for him, however, the struggle to find a proper, aesthetically pleasing harness for such a sleek body was tough. I knew I could make something better myself so I started crafting harnesses for Djessy. My spare time hobby of making leather wallets shifted to designing the perfect harness for my little friend. Through Djessy’s Instagram account I suddenly received so many positive reactions on his outdoor gear from fellow cat owners who also struggled with finding a well-fitting and pretty harness for their beloved cats. This motivated me to start my own product line and I am so pleased to have found work in what I love doing most. I am eager to share my designs with you, so every cat can bring out the true adventurer within themselves!

Saddle stitching by hand 🖐🏻
Saddle stitching is an ultra-durable hand-sewing technique for leather, utilizing two needles and a single, waxed thread to create strong, interlocking stitches. Unlike machine stitching, saddle stitching interlocks the thread through the leather, creating strong seams that remain secure even if one stitch were ever to fail. It is characterized by consistent tension, rhythmic motion, and a slight, aesthetic diagonal slant.

Stitching leather by hand is a slow process, but a lifetime reward. Stitch by stitch, my leather gear is crafted to endure. 🪡

First harness moments for this handsome 9 month old Siamese named Helios 🥹✨ He lives close by so I brought him a personal visit to deliver his new harness and to have a cuddle moment with him and his siblings! 🥰

When you introduce the harness to your cat, it’s all about creating a positive experience around the harness. Turn wearing the harness into a fun, playful moment so that your cat will start to associate the harness with fun.

Playtime is key because it redirects their focus away from wearing the new harness and onto something they love.

At first, keep the fit of the harness slightly loose, keep the sessions short and repeat a few times a day for a couple of days before moving onto the next phase.

Important:
Only remove the harness when your cat is calm and relaxed, not while they are actively trying to get out of it. Taking it off in that moment can unintentionally reward the behavior, teaching your cat that struggling leads to freedom. Instead, calmly distract your cat again with something engaging, and once their focus has shifted, take the harness off while they are at ease.
