Here are the main types:

🔹 Soft rubber float (Quick System) — glides smoothly and is safer for delicate or glossy tiles

💡 For polished or sensitive surfaces, always choose a soft rubber float.

There’s also the classic black rubber float — excellent for glossy tiles, but only when brand new. Once grout dries in the pores, it can become rough and scratch the surface.

Rolled the skim coat on? Now it’s time to smooth it properly 👇

Use a stainless steel spatula with a replaceable blade. It speeds up the process and helps you work the material evenly without fighting it.

💡 Important tip:
Don’t drag the tool all the way down the wall. At the bottom, you’ll lose the correct angle and can ruin the edge.

You may notice a few small fibers sticking out — that’s normal with a new roller sleeve. Don’t waste time removing them by hand. They’ll disappear during sanding.

And one more thing:
Even if the first coat looks good, a second layer is usually needed for a truly flat, professional finish.

🧱 How to Repair a Crack in the Wall Yourself

A solid repair comes down to proper prep and filling 👇

Start by opening the crack — remove material from both sides using a sanding knife so the filler can bond properly.

Next:
🔹 Remove all dust
🔹 Apply primer and let it dry

Now apply the filler. Make sure to press it into the crack, not just run along it — this ensures it’s fully filled.

Apply a second, thicker layer, then place reinforcement tape over the crack. Cover it with more filler and smooth it out evenly.
