A Nissan March K13 redesigned in the style of the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign has been turning heads and its story is just as striking as its looks. Built by students at the Nissan Kyoto Automobile College, this custom March was originally created for the Osaka Auto Messe 2019. The concept was bold: combine “Nissan’s cheapest car” with “Nissan’s most expensive,” the GT-R50 priced at over ¥1.6 billion. The car adopts key GT-R50 design cues most notably a front bumper modeled after the Italdesign GT-R, a distinctive gold-accented exterior, and even a hidden detail under the hood: a real Japanese maple leaf (momiji) integrated as a tribute to Kyoto. Mechanically, it runs the MR16 engine from the March NISMO paired with a 5-speed manual, plus Michelin Pilot Sport 3 (205/45R16) tires, Rays Volk Racing ZE40 wheels, and a Blitz Damper ZZ-R coilover setup, giving it the character of a true sporty hatchback.
The project earned 2nd place at Osaka Auto Messe, and the car is now permanently displayed inside the Kyoto campus as a showcase of student craftsmanship.
