How have Gen Z founders impacted the startup ecosystem? 🧐 Rookies have hosted an educational roadshow about Gen Z VCs earlier and here is the story!

💃 Having invited Gen Z speakers from VC and startup communities, we discussed the opportunities and difficulties of Gen Z getting into the startup field. Generally, most Gen Z founders lack extensive industry experience and network to realise their ideas. Another obstacle is that some young founders could not find the right product market fit. Nevertheless, Gen Z entrepreneurs should show extraordinary passion and positive attitude in learning.

【Rookie Fund TW Batch 6 _新創分享】🤩🤩🤩
Rookies有幸邀請到BSOS的Daniel黃朝秋CEO來分享BSOS的發展、對產業的看法以及過去在中國創業的經驗。

BSOS是全球唯一同時擁有Hyperledger、J.P. Morgan Quorum以及R3 Corda三項認證的公司，也是J.P. Morgan Quorum認證的15家公司中唯一的台灣公司。BSOS致力於運用分散式帳本技術解決企業營運以及價值流通的問題，並且在2020年獲得國發天使基金2000萬新台幣投資，成為國發基金在區塊鏈天使輪的最高金額。目前客戶涵蓋許多金融大戶，台北富邦銀行、國泰金控、財金資訊公司都是他們的客戶。

BSOS看到傳統金融供應鏈背後的巨大信任危機，認為區塊鏈很適合解決這個問題，便以此開發出了BridgeX技術。利用區塊鏈不可篡改的特性，把供應鏈各方的數據加密後上鏈。BSOS先透過專案式的銷售模式為大型金融客戶進行客製化，讓大型金融客戶先成為BSOS的忠實客戶，對於未來BSOS轉型以SaaS產品為主要商品奠下穩定的基礎。

在Daniel的分享中，我們看到Daniel的團隊除了過硬的技術實力以外，更重要的BSOS從既有的金融供應鏈商業模式中運用區塊鏈降低信用成本以及提升效率，進而拉攏金融供應鏈各方的利益。讓Rookies們深深體會到「技術實力是門檻，商業模式才是敲門磚」的道理。在和Daniel探討未來新創發展趨勢時，Daniel認為：「世界已經經過十多年2C商業模型的輪迴，能夠賺錢的商業模式大抵都被想到了。接下來要等科技有更新的突破才會有新的一輪機會，因此接下來會是以2B應用為主流。」這個趨勢Rookies們也深感認同，數位轉型已是剛性需求，而且數位轉型會隨著科技發展的腳步而變得越來越頻繁，能夠協助既有的商業模式進行數位轉型的解決方案會是未來的一大趨勢。

Rookies們有幸和Rookie Fund 的GP，Norman 度過了一個美好而充實的晚餐時光。

席間Norman 和 Rookies 分享過往從矽谷科技業到北京人資顧問的轉換跑道心得，與自己在至今多元而豐富的職涯當中的所見、所聞與所感。

除此之外，Norman 也與Rookies 分享了自己近期所閱讀的書籍《Delivering Happiness-A Path to Profits, Passion, and Purpose / 想好了就豁出去》。這本書由已故的美國知名網路鞋店Zappos 華裔CEO : Tony 謝家華 所著。書中描寫了形塑企業文化的心法與良好的企業文化所能為員工與企業所帶來的關鍵性影響。

最後，Norman也勉勵我們要好好把握成為Rookies這難能可貴機會多看、多學。並運用我們所累積的豐富經驗與培養出的精準眼光篩選出優秀的青年新創團隊，並協助其在世界的舞台上發光發熱。

[ 🤩 VC vs Crowdfunding ]

The Hong Kong startup scene is still very vibrant amid the coronavirus pandemic. Earlier, Rookies hosted the long-awaited VC vs Crowdfunding educational roadshow event with over fifty active attendees 🙌

💃💃💃 Together with speakers from VC and startups, we discussed the basics of VC funding and Crowdfunding💰. For VC, feedback and strategies could be gained from professionals at the expense of shares. Yet for crowdfunding, direct feedback from customers on the products can be collected.

“Hardware is hard” - Hardware presents a stereotype of requiring high cost and deep tech, limiting people’s access to the industry. 👩‍🎓 Michelle, the cofounder of Aromeo Diffuser, shared inspiring stories about how she built up her hardware startup and made a MVP with little cost when she was still a student.

[ 🙌🏻 Meeting the leaders of the student startup community in HK ]

🎤 Earlier, the Rookie Fund Hong Kong team hosted a get-together session with committee members of the entrepreneurship societies from different local universities. We had the honour to have invited James Kwan, the Executive Chairman of Jumpstart Media, the leading platform and only print magazine covering startups and technology in APAC.

📈 James shared with us statistics showing the rapid growth of the Hong Kong startup sector. He also shared his views on the opportunities in the market and advices to young people who aim to enter the startup field.

🏫 We also had the pleasure to host a panel discussion with Louis Cheung, Jason Or, Lawrence Cai and Jason Siok, the presidents of the entrepreneurship societies of their respective university. They discussed the needs and challenges of promoting entrepreneurship in the student community. We hope to work closely with them in the future to build a thriving campus startup ecosystem!

🤩【Rookie Fund TW Batch 6 _Rookies 參訪】🤩
上週Rookies們有幸前往 #立勤國際法律事務所 進行企業參訪，黃律師Bryan 為Rookies帶來非常精采的分享，透過許多實際的案例讓我們更了解創投圈的生態以及新創與創投互動時會遇到的問題。

一般創投關注的新創大多是成長期的新創，而Rookie Fund則更偏向早期創投，因此較為關注接近萌芽階段的早期新創，重視的要素也與一般創投不同。在分析一般公司的成長潛力時，大部分的情況會將重點放在其商業模式能夠產出的價值。但對於Rookie Fund關注的早期新創而言，創辦人以及團隊是否具備相應特質與能力對我們而言更重要。

在Due Diligence的過程中，一定不會被忽略的是財務以及法務的調查，但是對於早期新創而言，調查創辦人的背景以及待人接物的表現也很重要。Bryan律師也有一套投資新創的準則，他說最重視的創辦人特質有四個：誠實、合得來、聰明以及有資源。

知道了我們想要找的創辦人特質以後，Rookie Fund作為學生創投應該要如何找到這種人呢？Bryan律師提供了一個非常簡單易檢驗的指標，那就是「有優秀課外表現的人」。而這樣的人必須能夠清楚了解「痛點」、「策略」以及「解決方案」的差異。

當早期創投找到如此優秀的創辦人與創業點子後，有Rookies提出早期創投應該在Term Sheet中附帶反稀釋條款避免未來有其他投資人入股以後會稀釋自己的股份。然而，Bryan很誠實的和Rookies說，條款畢竟是人訂的，總是有轉圜的餘地。當新創公司聲勢浩大吸引到許多資金時，前面的條款都算數；當新創公司急於募集更多資金時，前面的條款都是可以再調整的。

從投資新創到出場，時間長度可長達10年或更久，因此許多的未知變數會讓投資人卻步。因此Bryan分享讓投資人下定決心投資的關鍵，便是知道這家新創未來有誰會併購它，幫創投想好退場方式是重要的！而投資人則可以在Term Sheet中加入Drag-alone條款以保障自己能夠在新創公司被併購時也能分一杯羹。

大家好，我是臺大森林碩三的許家齊。
目前在TAcc+擔任Intern及AIx1成員，協助加速器之運作。
對於IoT、區塊鏈及智慧農業領域新創團隊有較多關注。

我的座右銘是:「Why not ?」
對於新的觀念或事物，我總是鼓勵自己嘗試而非拒於門外，因為我認為人應不斷學習且不應自我設限。
大學時期積極嘗試各類活動與課程，不斷推動自己跨出舒適圈，與各個領域的人對話及學習。

社團經驗方面，投入臺大世界志工社兩年，
期間參與國內外國小課輔及老人院服務，並曾擔任拉達克海外服務隊之領隊。
近年積極參加新創相關競賽及活動，也曾進駐育成中心。

很榮幸有機會能在此與大家相聚。
換個角度看世界，相信也會非常豐富多彩。

Hi! I'm Jacky, a graduate student in forestry at National Taiwan University.
I'm an intern at TAcc+ and also a member of the AIx1 team.
As a student investor, in startup industries, I pay more attention to IoT,Blockchain and Intelligent Agriculture.

My motto is, "Why not?"
For new ideas or things, I always encourage myself to try instead of rejecting it.
In my opinion, people should keep learning and should not put limits on themselves.

I actively tried various activities and courses in college, constantly pushed myself out of my comfort zone,and learned from people in various fields.
When it comes to club experience, I have been involved in the World Volunteer Society of National Taiwan University for two years.
During this period, I participated in domestic and foreign elementary school tutors and senior services at nursing home, and served as the leader of the Ladakh overseas service team.

In recent years, I have actively participated in startups and innovation-related competitions and activities, and have also been stationed in the incubation center.
I am honored to have the opportunity to be with you all here.
Looking at the world from another perspective, I believe it will be very colorful.
Looking forward to learning and growing together with everyone!

哈囉大家好，我是Wesley，目前是台大經濟雙主修生科系三年級學生。現在同時是TAcc+擔任AIx1成員、台大新世代創新創業課程助教。

Hi everyone, my name is Wesley. I am currently a junior student that major in economics and life science at National Taiwan University. I always bring my passion and optimism to the group and like to try out new products that could potentially shape our future.

Rookie Fund is one of the few VC firm that is mainly run by and for students. It provides students like us with an exceptional opportunity to peek into the “behind the scenes” of the VC world. In addition, Rookies are all remarkable students with diverse backgrounds from universities around Taiwan. As a student investor at Rookie Fund, I will be learning and looking for high growth student startups alongside with other Rookies.

Aside from being a student investor at Rookie Fund, I am also a member of the A1x1 team at TAcc+ and a teaching assistant at NTUCEP. 以下是第四位 Rookie 的自我介紹!

大家好，我是目前就讀成大歷史系大四的Fang-Yu (FY)。
我把歷史系的訓練視為培養資料搜集彙整解讀、邏輯思辨等能力的工具，有鑒於職涯想往商管及新創事業發展，因此大學期間持續找資源累積商業思維、精實創業、管顧思考等面向的知識，並透過經營組織、參與專案和競賽來增加實務經驗。
過去是2019 YEFer (Young Entrepreneurs of the Future)、成大創聯會會長、學生會公關部長，現在不定期擔任設計思考工作坊引導教練，每一次跳脫科系及學校框架的嘗試，都是新的刺激和視野，同時摸索出與不同團隊分別適合的協作方式，進而幫自己定位和找到施力點。
平時多關注科技與商業創新，熱愛吸收新事物了解產業趨勢，很高興加入Rookie Fund，能夠以投資人角度看新創圈，期待和大家一起學習成長，協助更多早期學生新創接觸募資概念，打造國際創業項目！

I am FY (Liu Fang Yu), a postgraduate Year 4 student of NCKU History Department.
The training of History has equipped me with the skills of research and analyse as well as logical thinking. With a desire to make a path towards the area of business and startups, I have reached out to resources including business mind, lean startups and management cousulting in the university.

Having the privilege to previously work as 2019 YEFer (Young Entrepreneurs of the Future), Director of NCKU Entrepreneurship Association (EA), Officer of the Public Relations Department of the Students' Association, I am currently a part-time tutor of a design thinking workshop. The diversed area I worked in has broden my horizons and developed my skills to flexibly cooperate with different teams, and further having a clearer thoughts of self-position.

It is my pleasure to be in 6th Rookie Fund, it overlaps with my interests like technology, bussiness innovations and industry trends; more importantly, it provides me the opportunities to view from the point of investors towards the startups businesses. 大家好我是Kelly，目前就讀清大計財三年級，很高興可以成為Rookie和大家一起學習！
我的個性活潑外向，喜歡聊天、與人互動， 平常多關注Fintech、大數據的新創題目，也在學校修習了相關課程，另外我也對產業趨勢很有興趣和研究，希望可以透過產業分析來幫助新創團隊找到商機。
我對事物總是抱著好奇心，也很樂意去學習，在大二時加入了由清華校友組成的清華天使會，除了協助天使會的運作，也開始大量接觸新創，藉由天使會觀察投資人與新創團隊的互動、主動了解新創圈的生態、知道投資人和團隊的需求和想法，更重要的是可以認識許多新創團隊，聽他們的創業故事、經驗，使自己成長。
比起創業，我更喜歡陪伴新創團隊茁壯，加入Rookie Fund讓我有機會更深入的認識新創，並協助團隊找到適合的合作夥伴、投資人或是方向，希望不管是團隊或我們Rookies，雙方都有滿滿的收穫！

Hi ! My name is Kelly, I‘m a junior in National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) and majoring in quantitative finance. I‘m glad to be one of the rookies and learn with others.
I‘m an outgoing girl and I like to chat with people. Fintech and big data are main topic I focus on .Therefore, I also took related courses to get a better understanding of these sphere.
Additionally, industrial trend is other topic I am interested in, I hope to help startups to find their own business model through industrial analysis.
In my sophomore year, I joined Tsing Hua Angel’s club which is consisted of alumni of NTHU to work as an assistant because I am full of curiosity and I want to learn more. in addition to assist operation in Tsing Hua Angel’s club, I start to know a plenty of startups. Because of Angel’s club, I got a chance to closely observe the interaction between investors and startups, understood startup ecosystem , follow up the thought of the investors and the startups. The most important thing is I have more opportunity to know startups and listen their stories or experience.
Compare with starting a business, I have more interested in accompanying startups to grow. Join Rookie Fund let me have a chance to understand startups deeply and assist them to find suitable partner, investors or direction. I hope Whether startups or Rookies, both parties have a lot of rewards!
