Strawberries and garlic as companions?
Some people say you shouldn’t plant these together because it’ll make your strawberries taste like garlic. I’ve never experienced that. I find they work really well together.
I plant them both in the fall, keep them cultivated with my Razor cultivator, then add mulch between the crops in early winter. That takes them through to spring. We harvest in May, June, and July.
If I have time after harvest and cleanup, I’ll put in a quick buckwheat cover crop. It’s flowering in about 30 days. I then terminate it and have a weed-free space ready for my fall root crops or brassicas.
