Private training packages include 5 sessions, I come to your house or nearby park to train, your pup will learn sit, down, stay, recall, leave it, bye-me, focus, touch, the beginning stages of heeling and not bolting out the door.

As an Animal Behavior College Certified Dog Trainer, I am trained in the LIMA Approach which stands for Least Invasive Minimally Aversive. I operate under the knowledge that Pups want to please, they just need to know how to communicate. They also have strong natural drives that can take over, especially when they are not practicing self control. I help my trainees better understand why their pups are doing what they do and how we can replace those unwanted behaviors with desirable ones.

This involves a lot of positive reinforcement with a huge emphasis on how to communicate with your pup in a way that builds confidence and connection and furthers your training experience and relationship 🙂

GROUP TRAINING IS COMING THIS MAY!

Why is group training so great? Because it's an affordable opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will vastly improve your relationship with your dog! Group training is about training you, the owner, on how to train your dog. So weekly we meet, and review the skills needed to acquire Basic Obedience skills such as sit, down, stay, touch, leave-it, bye me and a release cue so your pup holds each behavior until released. You will also learn the foundations of building a strong recall, loose leash walking and heeling.

A lot of dogs have a general idea of what some of these commands mean, but they lack reliability in performance when it's most needed. This is what I love about group, while learning around a group of dogs can present its challenges it also presents opportunity to practice these much needed skills around the ultimate distractions, dogs and humans, thus your dog won't just listen when at home in the living room, but will build the threshold to listen in some of the most challenging environments.

This is a great class if you have never had training before, or if your dog has had training but is unreliable in more distracting environments.

4 Sessions, $125 or $75 for foster dogs.

Stay is such an important cue and while many owners teach there pup to stay, it's only useful in certain situations. The goal is to say "stay" once and your dog stay put regardless of the squirrel, the mail man or the food that just fell on the floor. To do that we have to start small. Add distractions like unusual body movements, sounds, tossing things etc. and always use the release cue so they know that the stay does not end until you say so . Here is a short clip working with Sage on different body movements. Want to test your dog? Tell them stay and then spin around in front of them. Most dogs will get up to see what's happening . But it's not hard to change that!

Sage is working on reactivity to different things in her environment. Specifically other animals while out in a walk. So we took this opportunity to admire these deer together and learn how to engage AND disengage which is a crucial step to success !
