Attention Golden Kielbasa Vets Open fans and followers of this page. Some important news. Yes, the "GK" will be coming back strong again this year (September 25, register here: https://davchapter8.org/golden-kielbasa/golden-kielbasa-golfers-online-registration/) but THIS FACEBOOK PAGE WILL BE RETIRED ON MAY 1! Your NEW Facebook place to get all your GK news will be the new, revamped DAV Hardware City Chapter 8 FB page (see DAV post shared below). PLEASE visit and like/follow this page ASAP to ensure you won't miss any important GK updates. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Greetings, friends and supporters of DAV Chapter 8's Wreaths Across America of New Britain (WAANB) program and fans of our WAANB page! We have an important announcement. You will notice that our page has changed significantly. Our page's name has changed from "DAV Chapter 8 Wreaths Across America of New Britain" to "DAV Hardware City Chapter 8." This is still the place to find all the latest news and updates about Wreaths Across America of New Britain (this year's event, December 19), but our page now will include ALL DAV Chapter 8 news and information in a single space - including WAANB news and all news about our sister major charitable event, the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open (September 25, 2026). Our fellow page for Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open news and information remains active for now, but will be retired on May 1 - we will spend the next six weeks encouraging fans of THAT event and page to follow us here. This change is long overdue and will now make it easier than ever to follow all the events and activity of one of the state's most active and engaged DAV chapters, DAV Hardware City Chapter 8! Please share/spread the word and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Big thanks once again to DAV Hardware City Chapter 8 for managing yet another wildly successful Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open in September. The event, presented by another wonderful friend of HOHCT, Liberty Bank, attracted more than 230 golfers for the second straight year and raised a record $33,000 - half of which was donated to HOHCT. We can't thank DAV Chapter 8 and tournament founder Dennis Buden enough for their unwavering support - over the past 12 years the "GK" has raised $131,000 for HOHCT, helping us to keep countless veterans safely in their homes!

One week ago today, our 15th Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open was another monster event, all for the love and appreciation of those who served. 235 golfers, 300 at our fabulous dinner and awards ceremony at the unparalleled Tunxis Country Club, fantastic golf and blue skies, a celebrity guest in former Red Sox all-star Rich Gedman, special guest fundraisers and long-drive artists Eric Lunt and Andrew Fernandes of Charity Golf International, pomp and circumstance, a poignant honoring of those we've lost, and presentation of the Angelo Tomasso, Sr. and Angelo Tomasso, Jr. Veteran of Distinction Awards to the late Bruce Fagan, and CT's last two Battle of Iwo Jima survivors, Joe Caminiti and Peter Senick. The tally is still being counted, but it looks like we will easily surpass last year's record $30,000 raised for DAV Chapter 8, House of Heroes Connecticut and other wonderful causes supporting and honoring veterans and active-duty military. We cannot accomplish this every year without our loyal golfers and the generous support of Presenting Sponsor Liberty Bank, Diamond Sponsor Access Health CT, Platinum Sponsors The Tomasso Group, The Petit Family Foundation, Newfield Construction and The Starlight Program at Stonington Institute, along with so many others. Thank you all! And remember....DO IT FOR THE VETS! (Thank you to my nephew James Drivdahl for the GREAT pix!)

It's kielbasa time! One of the best parts about running tomorrow's fabulous 2025 Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open is picking up the 140 pounds of Martin Rosol's, Inc. kielbasa the day before to feed the hungry crowd! Thanks to our Kielbasa Sponsors Martin Rosol's and Link Mechanical! 238 players slated for tomorrow and it looks like the weather will cooperate!

Connecticut's last two survivors of the titanic Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945, Joe Caminiti of Bristol (100) and Peter Senick of New Haven (99), along with the late Army veteran and unparalleled veterans advocate Bruce Fagan of West Hartford, who passed unexpectedly in February, will be honored with DAV Hardware City Chapter 8's Angelo Tomasso, Sr. and Angelo Tomasso, Jr. Veteran of Distinction Award at this year's 2025 Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open September 26 at Tunxis Country Club. It will be a not-to-be-missed ceremony!
