Getting these wedges milled down to size for dad. He needs these to open up a headrest mechanism on his TR6. He tacked these together for me so I could mill them. I’ll remove the tacks and clean them up next.

The 3D printed jig for the firing pins is all done. I’m going to try it as is but I’ve already made some tweaks to the model in case I need to print another one. It’s a really tight fit and I squeezed the first pin in with a vise but now it snaps in fine.

Getting ready to finally turn the end of these firing pins. I decided to make some negatives in blocks to hold the pins in a 4 jaw chuck. I’ll then use a tool post grinder to grind that end round and that’s a wrap.

Getting a piece of stock cut for another 8” meatball job! It’s a good thing we bought this 10’ stick of 3.5” 4140 just for this!

Just got a new aluminum backed pad in and it works wonders for keeping everything nicely and flat. Pulled out some valleys on the casting and then finished off the vise jaw with it.

I’ve got the 208 dynamic pulled out of storage to take a look at the jaw fit up. It’s a little taller on the dynamic but I think that’s fine. I’ll make the second jaw match so they can be placed on either part. Then I’ll need to drill and tap the dynamic for the jaw.

Next up, I’m going to make a handful of ABS spacers to take up the slop on these arms for the mini skid steer. This should help reduce wear over time and help keep the machine in better shape.

I finished grinding the first 208 jaw today and decided to throw some nice chamfers on all the edges. I was able to pull all the divots out of the jaw from my rough in and then thought it would look nice to have a continuous chamfer around the whole thing. Using the Vi-Speed vise to hold the jaw while I’m filing.

I’ve been using some replaceable sanding disks to profile this jaw and it works okay but I noticed I have a lot of flex in the rubber backer. I have another aluminum hook and loop sanding backer coming in which should be a huge improvement. As I sand each side down I’ll check the whole jaw with a straight edge to make sure I’m not making a massive low spot.

Original Reed Vise casting plate to match my 208! I have a handful of these old casting plates but I especially like this one because I believe it’s the same one that was used to make this vise back in the early 40s! Such an awesome piece of history.
