"McClain County Announces Application for Safe Room Rebate Grant
McClain County Emergency Management is starting the process of application for a grant that would provide rebates to residents for installing qualified safe rooms or tornado shelters in their homes if the grant is approved.
The first step in the application process is for residents to register to participate in the program. Homes where safe rooms will be installed must be prequalified to participate in the grant. If approved, the grant would be made available countywide to homeowners for installation at their primary residence only.
To participate you must be the homeowner, home must be your primary residence, and the home must be located in McClain County Oklahoma. Landlords, renters, and homes in the floodplain are not eligible. Units that have already been installed are not eligible. You must be pre-approved and wait until the designated start date to participate.
McClain County will host 5 public meetings in 2 locations to explain how the program works and sign up interested residents. Three meetings will be held at the Goldsby Community Center on Tuesday, July 18th, at 10am, 2pm, and 7pm.
