“I could build that cheaper” — famous last words.
Let’s be honest: nobody wakes up and decides to become a woodworker because they enjoy having a garage full of expensive tools and a layer of sawdust in their coffee. ☕️💨
It usually starts with one of three things:
• You watch one video and suddenly you’re emotionally invested in a guy making a table with fire and epoxy
• You attempt a “simple” shelf… and accidentally begin a 3-week personal growth journey
• You see a $2,000 table and say, “I could make that for $200 easy.”
Cut to:
$1,200 in tools
$400 in lumber
$87 in clamps you “definitely needed”
…and one table that will never financially recover 💀
But here’s the problem…
You pick up one perfect board—maybe cherry, maybe walnut—
and suddenly you’re like,
“Wait… this is actually beautiful.”
Now you’re noticing grain patterns.
Now you’re saying words like “figure” in casual conversation.
Now you’re judging furniture in restaurants.
You’re in too deep.
At Clark’s Hardwood Lumber, our obsession started just like yours. We realized that if we were going to spend our weekends covered in shavings, we wanted the good stuff—the domestic heavy hitters and the exotic showstoppers.
We stopped looking for "wood" and started looking for character. Now, we spend our days helping you find the perfect board or slab that’s going to become your next "I made this" bragging right.
Be honest—what was the project that got you hooked?
