If you're considering a hybrid heat pump system for your home you might want to do this before the end of the year when the NYS Clean Heat rebates expire. For an average size home with a heating load of 50,000 Btu/hr the rebate would be about $7,000.

A hybrid system combines your existing gas furnace with a cold climate rated heat pump system. A smart thermostat is used to sense outdoor temperature and make pre-programmed choices as to which fuel to use.

If you're considering a hybrid heat pump system and have National Grid or NYSEG as your electricity provider you may want to consider doing this before the end of the year. The NYS Clean Heat program will discontinue rebates for these systems at the end of the year. The current incentive provides $0.14 per Btu. An average home with a heating load of 50,000 Btu would receive a $7,000 rebate.

The $2,000 Federal Tax Credit is ending as well.

A Hybrid heat pump system consists of a cold climate rated heat pump in conjunction with your existing gas fired system. A smart thermostat allows for automatic switching between the fuels dependent on outside air temperature.
