Last chance to upgrade!

Microsoft phased out support for Windows 8.1 last week, making the upgrade to Windows 10 a more urgent choice. The last remaining free upgrade path, the so-called assistive technology loophole, is closing soon.

If you only rely on Microsoft Security Essentials (Windows 7 and older) or the built in protection that Windows 8/8.1 provides, you may want to rethink that position. What do you personally use or recommend to folks?

It's true that Windows 8 and 8.1 come with antivirus protection built in, but you can't rely on it to protect you against malware attack. Results from independent labs and our own hands-on tests show that you really need a third-party antivirus utility.

Redmond has said that the FREAK security flaw is found in versions of its Windows operating system from Windows Server 2003, Windows Vista, and higher.
