Our team traded the usual workday conversations for a fun night out with the office team at Aldana Contracting at Painting with a Twist!

Building strong relationships goes beyond the jobsite. It’s about taking time to connect, share a few laughs and enjoy time together outside of work.

Thank you to the Aldana Contracting team for a great evening! We appreciate the partnership and are glad to be part of such a great building community.

The Index is down. But the cost of building isn't.

The October 2026 RoMac Building Supply Whole House Commodity Index fell 0.5% to $54,037, down from $54,318 in September.

But that small decline doesn't tell the whole story.

- OSB sheathing: +8.8%
- Southern Pine 2x12: -13.2%
- Spruce studs: -8.8%
- Gasoline prices: +34.2% year-over-year

While lower lumber prices offer some relief, rising OSB, fuel, financing and tariff-related costs continue to put pressure on builders.

The takeaway? A lower Index doesn't automatically mean a lower cost to build.

Read our October Commodity Report for the latest market trends, material price movements and insights to help you plan your next project.
