We've been building big roll equipment for over 30 years. In that time, we've watched the industry grow from a niche solution into something that's reshaping how turf gets installed at every level, from backyard renovations to sports stadiums, and this year, one of the largest sporting stages in the world.
2026 isn't just another year. It's the year the conversation goes mainstream. Here's what we're seeing:
The World Cup puts natural turf on the global stage this summer. 104 matches across 16 cities, 60 of them on new temporary natural or hybrid playing surfaces. Billions of viewers. Elite athletes. Every field under a microscope. That kind of visibility doesn't stay contained. It can shape how facilities, universities, and municipalities think about their own surfaces.
(World Cup stats via Ryan Bearss, Michigan State University.)
At the same time, athletes are asking harder questions about what they're playing on. When OBJ posted about turf quality last year, it hit 4.1 million views. That's not a fringe opinion anymore. The conversation around playing surfaces, injuries, and performance has gone mainstream.
And beyond the sport or commercial level, we're seeing something shift with landscapers and installers. People who never considered big rolls are starting to ask the right questions. Teams are figuring out how to adapt their workflows to use big rolls on smaller residential projects, not just sports fields and commercial jobs. Faster installs, fewer seams, more jobs per day.
We'll be sharing more of our perspective on where the industry is headed throughout the year. We're also working on gathering real data on growth and adoption. So if you're a grower, installer, landscaper, or involved in any other part of the sod industry, we want to hear from you. What are you seeing in your markets?
Later this week, we're highlighting the first of several customer stories from farms across the country. Our mission isn't just to produce high-quality equipment, netting, and parts. It's to help you stay connected to what others are seeing across the industry. Shoot us a DM, we'd love to hear from you.
