I just wrapped up a restoration on an early 1900s Kentucky pattern axe, and this one gave me a real workout. Cleaning up the steel was the fun part. Shaping the hickory to fit that old V bottom eye was the fight. That wood did not want to cooperate, and getting a perfect fit took way more time and patience than I expected. But the end result locked in tight and feels solid in the hand again.

The handle fitting was a one off and definitely not something I plan on doing often, but I’m always happy to sharpen axes, tools, knives, and all the everyday blades you rely on.

Over the last few months I’ve been diving deep into the art of straight razor honing, and it’s been an incredible learning experience. These old blades have a way of teaching patience and precision. Every one is a little different, every one has its own story.

Bringing these razors back to life has been some of the most rewarding work I’ve done yet. The feel of that final edge catching the light just right is something special.
