Behind the sound of College GameDay.

ESPN’s David Baker shared how he’s using the Voyage Audio Spatial Mic Dante on set this season:

“The mic has been a key player in our surround mix, allowing viewers at home to feel as if they were live in the pit at College GameDay every week.”

These remote broadcast setups often have only IP infrastructure — no analog cables — so being able to drop in one mic and run everything over a single network line is a game changer.

The Voyage Audio team is back from a fantastic week in Amsterdam at IBC 2025! It was incredible to connect (and reconnect) with so many creators, partners, and innovators from around the globe.

While the big shows are great for showcasing new technology, our favorite part is always the conversations. This year, one theme came up again and again: the move from experimental immersive audio to practical, everyday workflows.

From broadcasters looking to create more engaging live sports experiences, audio engineers recording concerts with more realism, to developers building the next generation of XR, the demand for high-quality, easy-to-implement spatial audio has never been clearer. These discussions are what fuel our mission.

Grammy-winning engineer Tom Lazarus (https://classicsound.com) recently captured stunning immersive mixes using 2 x Spatial Mic Dante microphones, the new Grace Design M701 coupled with a few Schoeps spot mics.

The solo piano was almost all Spatial Mic Dante. Working in Pro Tools, Tom built parallel mixes in 7.1.2, 5.1, and stereo with no downmixing. Just clean decoding of all 8 raw channels using the Voyage plugin. Every night, Apple received final Spatial and stereo masters of each performance.

NAB is just around the corner! Come see us at Booth W4143AC in the West Hall. We will also be doing a presentation on the Start Up stage as part of the Pilot Innovation Award in the West Hall on Sunday, April 6 - 10:30 - 11:15 a.m at the PropelMe Stage.

Additionally, we will be taking part in a panel for NAB PropelME called "The Future of Hybrid Production On-Set with AI, ICVFX, and more" on Sunday, 4/6/25 from 12:05-12:50pm.
