Sail Mac Now

Sail Mac Now Furthering the sport of sailing amongst young people and generating an interest which will bring on the next generation of sailor.

Our aim is to further the sport of sailing amongst young people and to generate an interest which will bring on the next generation of sailors. With this in mind we have entered the 2014 Bayview Mackinac Race (known as the "Mac" in the sailing community). First run in 1925, the Port Huron to Mackinac is the second longest fresh water race in the world (222nm) with much international exposure. Our

crew is a group of 12 people of which half are young boys. This race will provide these kids with memories that will last forever. During the race and in the preparation leading up to it, we intend for the children to be totally hands on in running the boat. The children will learn new skills throughout the spring which would include navigation, weather, standing and running rigging, preparing the boat, building a team and solving problems. Everything we are doing has been made possible by our generous sponsors: Beneteau, Harken, Quantum, Great Lakes Yacht Club, Revo, Emergency Restoration, ABM, Predict Wind, Super Scooper US, Pointe Hardware, Lowe's, Aero Filter, Shakespeare Marine.
