American Culture Council

American Culture Council We help those in need, now refurbishing Veteran's homes and yards, making them safe, comfortable, and American Culture Council Inc.

was founded on the idea of helping those in need. Ever since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest. Our team is made up entirely of volunteers. We work on behalf of those who need our help. Even a little help goes a long way. A lot of help can make a life worth living. That is why we're especially happy to find new volunteers who share our

commitment to doing good in the world. Do you want to support us by helping with our work? Then don't hesitate to contact us. A helping hand (or two!) is always greatly appreciated! Our work is funded by private and corporate donations. Y-O-U are the angels that provide for us, so we can help others. Our current project is a partnership with The Home Depot. We're participating in their project, "Celebration of Service"; a way to thank our Military Veterans for their service to our nation. We will re-hab and refurbish homes and property of Veteran homeowners. If a Veteran lives with a family member, who is the homeowner of where the Veteran resides, then that home is eligible for our help, also. Some of the items that Veterans need include solar panels, generators, HVAC systems, appliances, flooring (especially for wheelchairs); for exteriors, we need to supply fencing, environmentally-friendly windows and doors, exterior repairs, such as gutters and roofing, wheelchair ramps, paint, and curb appeal. Your donations will go a long way to make sure our Veterans and their families have what they need to make their homes livable, safe and secure, and green.

WE JUST FINISHED ANOTHER GREAT VETERAN'S HOME REFURBISHING PROJECT IN SPRING VALLEY!!!!
Thank you, Steve Mitchell, Store Manager of the Lemon Grove Home Depot, and thank you, Veteran Joel Brown!
Steve, I mentioned several times throughout this job that I am in awe of your crew - what a wonderful, generous, and hard-working group of people, this crew of Employee Volunteers who made this job possible....
We still have some finishing touches to put on the project, but you can see some of the finished work....

Here are most of our crew at CA Senator Joel Anderson's office.

The Senator was kind enough to recognize our work on behalf of Veteran Sanders, 1st row, 2nd from Left.
Thank you, Senator Anderson! Thank you, to our Crew who participated in this project!

Thank you, Veteran Sanders, and your 2 sons - we had a blast working on your home! Thank you, sir, for your service to our nation. We're honored to have been able to express our appreciation for your sacrifice by lending hand with some projects around your home.

Thank you, Chuck Atkinson, head of Veterans Association of North County, our partner in this endeavor.

Thank you Home Depot Foundation for your generous grant that made this work possible.

We have been busy!!!!!!

May 31, 2014, Saturday, we descended on the home of Veteran Sanders in Lakeside and proceeded to start a lot of projects to upgrade his home.
We had absolutely the best time! This deserving family pitched in to help the Home Depot Pro, Doug Bennett, and the other volunteers who also worked on their home.

Doug showed up with every tool and gadget known to man to get the jobs done for this family. Home Depot Stores REALLY know how to outfit a project with EVERYTHING needed to get it done and get it done beautifully! Doug is rightly called the Pro, because that's how he handled this job.

His son-in-law, Nick, also known as Nick of the Cardboard Truckers Band, pitched in and helped tear out the old rickety steps leading to the home's living room door, then stuck around to help build the new steps. And are they gorgeous! As soon as the railings and spindles arrive, the new steps and landing will be complete! They're darn steady now, with solid footings, and a spacious landing.

Don Lindsay, the BEST tile man in the business, proceeded to get started on re-tiling their Master Bathroom floor. He's also going to tackle their front entry.

Electrician Will Spencer came to install the Sanders' new microwave and hood over their range. Easier said than done, when you're working within the confines of a mobile home! But the installation went well, with few hitches that were readily taken care of - and what a beautiful addition to their kitchen! Plus, this up-in-the-air microwave leaves lots of space open on that hard-to-find area in a mobile home kitchen, the counter tops! Beautifully done, Will!

Woody Woodrum, my husband of 38 years (not long enough) was there to help whomever needed it - Woody's a great Handyman and loves these kinds of jobs - and loves helping others.

We were fortunate enough to have Anthony Porrello come by and take a ton of before-and-after pictures - thank you, Anthony!

Thanks to EVERYONE who showed up and helped improve the home of Veteran Sanders and his great family!

Well, the baby has clean britches now, and he's making a quick recovery from his open heart surgery in December, 2013.

The family is finally getting used to "Normal", but it's been a long hard slog for them.

They contact me frequently to give me updates, have invited us over to check on the baby and visit. These are the sweetest people you'd ever meet.

A very generous friend of American Culture Council, Dennis Crane, stepped up to the plate for their appliances.
Dennis made some jewelry - his profession - and basically traded the jewelry items with a friend who has an appliance company. You can figure out the rest, folks.

The ingenuity of American horse-trading is alive and well and being practiced here in America today.

But indeed, this Veteran family, surely living under a lucky star, also received a brand new washer. In a very short time, they went from having no working washer to having 2 washers! Now all they need is that dryer. I have no doubt someone will step up to the plate and donate one.

For all of you who have contacted me with your cares and concerns for this darling baby and his great family, we're forever grateful for your posts, your messages of support and your generous donations.

Stay tuned for more, because San Diego Habitat For Humanity and the Home Depot Store's Celebration of Service Seasons are ramping up again.

I'll be working with these wonderful organizations and more terrific Veterans, and will keep you posted and updated on all our progress.

Meantime, please hit that red button up there that says "DONATE" and be part of this wonderful program to help our Veterans and their families.

THANK YOU, EVERYONE!!!!!

We've got a situation with our Wounded Warrior family and his recovering baby son -

First, the baby is recovering, although slowly. Folks, when you weigh a whole 14 lb and you get your chest cracked open so your heart can be repaired...it takes a lot out of you...recovery takes time, and the baby is responding.

However, the family has a crisis they should not have to deal with --

Their washer quit and their dryer is so old it belongs in the Dryer Hall of Fame - Anyone with a baby knows how vital an inhouse set of these appliances can be -

Whaddaya say….Friends of Veterans – let’s step up to the plate and help this family –

Ya GOTTA have a washer and dryer when you have a baby recovering from open heart surgery!

See that Red DONATE button up in the Right Corner of this page?

Just click on that button and make the best donation you can for this family – We’ve got a Wounded hero recovering from a broken back he sustained in Afghanistan and his baby son, who fills this washer daily with…well, you know – and this family needs our help.

Try hitting that Red DONATE button and let’s help them -

Quickly – if we can collect $800.00 by this weekend, then they’ll have their washer and dryer this weekend!!!

Give your best, because this Warrior gave his best for you and your family!

Thanks, America, because you CARE!

Here's what they've got and what they need:
