The selection was based on scoring from an expert jury that included journalists from Talouselämä, along with:

A new chapter for Wave Ventures 🌊

We’re super excited to share that Johannes Korpela has been appointed as the new CEO of Wave. Johannes has been part of the team since last January and brings a strong founder mindset, with experience from building an AI ed-tech startup as well as working in consulting and scale-ups.

Together with the new team Camilla Komulainen, Max Larsson, Robin Hansson, Margarethe Böhme, Tiffany Tuisk and Niklas Kervinen, Johannes is ready to continue backing the next generation of builders from the New Nordics. Behind the scenes, the Finnish team has also been building something big for the community of top founders. More on that early next year.

At the same time, we want to say a huge thank you to Antonia Eneh, who will be moving on from her role as CEO. Together with the team (Zechen, Elis, Bror, Joona, Emma), Antonia has had a real impact on Wave and left it better than she found it. We’re incredibly excited for what’s next for her.

Slush 2024☑️

️Here’s a quick recap of our last week:

1️⃣Tuesday (Slush Day 0): We partnered with to host investors on a cozy rooftop at the Cable Factory!

2️⃣Wednesday (Slush Day 1): A highlight of the week was seeing our CEO, Antonia Eneh, took the Founder Stage to host a fireside chat with the legendary Pejman Nozad, Co-founder and Managing Partner of Pear VC.

3️⃣Thursday (Slush Day 2): We kicked off the morning with the ”Young Founders x Funders Breakfast” event with . Bringing together top young Nordic founders and global VCs was truly inspiring!

4️⃣Sunday: To wrap up an exciting week, our CEO Antonia joined Arto Nyberg’s show on TV1 to share insights and reflect on the Wave’s journey so far.

It’s time to introduce our team, and first up: Elis!

At just 22 years old, Elis is already a 2x founder and a recent graduate from Stockholm School of Economics. After stints in banking and consulting, Elis joined Wave with the dream of building his own unicorn startup one day.

Elis is ambitious and driven by the mission to make Wave the largest Gen Z-led fund. He’s particularly inspired by the most pressing issues of our generation, such as climate and AI alignment. He’s committed to go ”all-in” to support the next wave of unicorn founders tackling these issues.

🌊Elis’ tips for people considering a career in VC:

- VC is very much a network game. Build strong mentorships, stay curious, and take the time to understand how different funds operate at different stages.
- Approach every conversation with an open mind and try to keep feedback loops short.
- There’s a lot of competition, so as you learn about the field, focus on identifying a niche where you can excel. Start broadly, but narrow your focus to areas where the mutual value exchange is greatest.
