Breast Cancer Awareness Month
This year marks the 11th anniversary of Cruz Pedregon and primary sponsor Snap-on “Socket to Breast Cancer” program.
Each year, they turn the Funny Car pink during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, paying tribute to breast cancer warriors everywhere, including so many NHRA fans, drivers, and teams.
Over these past 11 years, Snap-on and its franchisees have teamed up with the Pink Fund and Kelly Shires Foundation, donating more than $1.1 million to help patients manage life’s essentials while battling breast cancer.
That support covers things like transportation, rent, and other living expenses, so patients can focus on what matters most — their health. One of the biggest hurdles patients face is simply getting to and from treatment.
October means it’s time to roll out our special Snap-on® “Socket to Breast Cancer” Dodge® Hellcat® Nitro Funny Car in support of the Pink Fund and breast cancer awareness. To show their ongoing support each year, Snap-on creates a new pink paint scheme, and once again, we’ll have matching gear. We’re proud to carry those colors here at the Texas Motorplex and again in Las Vegas, two huge stops in the Countdown.
Dallas has always been special for me. My parents were both born in Texas, San Antonio and El Paso. And I’ve been fortunate to score some big wins here over the years. Track operators Billy Meyer and his daughter, Christie, continue to make this event unique to the Lone Star State. There’s always an extra incentive to run well – supporting breast cancer awareness and keeping our momentum going for the Countdown.
The car is strong, our team is confident, and we’re chasing every point in this Countdown!
On a personal note, my sister continues to recover well from her battle with breast cancer, which makes flying the Pink Fund banner that much more meaningful for me and my family. We’ll be ready to rock in Dallas!
If you can’t be there in person to take in all the sights and sounds of this exciting event, be sure to catch all the action on FS1 or FOX network TV. NHRA.TV is also a great way to watch.
