We installed 170+ square ft of sound deadening foam and it really cleaned up the "verbiness" It's now completely ready to use, the Roseland Park Recording "Studio B" rehearsal space available to rent on a one night or monthly basis. Off street private parking, mini fridge, brand new 14000 btu AC, private bathroom. Equipped with PA microphones monitors drums and bass amp. Green screen for video projects. It's been a productive year so far. Finished the Washbaer CD, a demo for John Havell, and two CDs for Doc & BC. The last 3 weeks of quarantine have allowed me to accelerate the work on the Reckless Deriver material. Because several bookings were cancelled as a result of the quarantine situation - a blessing in disguise? Well mixed at best... stay safe everyone and don't forget to wash your hands

Wayne, RD's bassist and resident tech ninja, acquired a little audio hardware device called the "MiniDSP" - comes with software and a measurement microphone that analyzes the space we mix in and feeds the resulting EQ setting to the MiniDSP, and it EQs the audio to flatten the response of the speakers so we get more accurate mixes. Technology!

Tech details as promised! I put together a new guitar recording setup for the next Reckless Deriver CD "2020" - of course my Mesa Boogie MarkV is my starting point, with a Shure 57 and a vintage Beyer M200 (pretty rare) mic on the 12" Mesa Black Shadow speaker in a 3/4 closed back cabinet inside a 12' by 7' room - the slave output from the MarkV feeds the input of a Mesa Boogie Triaxis guitar preamp with recording outputs into a Radial stereo direct box; one main out of the Triaxis feeds the input of a Laney LH50 into a 12" Eminence Lady Luck speaker in a closed-back cabinet in a 12' by 14' room, miked with a matching mic set ( the ubiquitous Shure 57 and another Beyer M200 - yes we have two ;-) ) - the M200s are connected to a TL Audio stereo tube preamp, the Shure 57s go into an ART TPS II, and the Triaxis channels are direct for a total of 6 tracks. BTW, all the preamp tubes in the MarkV and Laney LH50 are RCA NOS long black plate 12AX7's with D-shaped "getters", for you tube detail fans ;-)

Finally got my friend Jeremy Egglefield's band Kaleidogroove in the studio last night, we recorded Paul on drums, Andy on bass and Jeremy on keyboards live with a scratch vocal track by Sabrina, and then Michael added a nice sax solo and some tasty fills - Gary and Kara will be in next week for guitar and lead vocal overdubs - I'd like to do this every week
