Most crawl space encapsulations fail at the details.

Many times tape is utilized to seal the v***r barrier to foundation piers, and in many cases it works well, but when a pier has indentations, grooves, or voids, the tape cannot fully conform to the surface. Those small gaps can create pathways for ground moisture and v***r to bypass the seal.

A crawl space is only as good as its weakest connection point.

When evaluating an encapsulation, don’t just look at the v***r barrier itself inspect the piers, columns, seams, and transitions. Proper surface preparation, sealing methods, and attention to irregular surfaces are what separate a basic installation from a high-performance encapsulation system.

The goal isn’t just to cover the ground. The goal is to create a continuous moisture barrier that helps protect against humidity, condensation, mold growth, and poor indoor air quality.

A smaller shop doesn’t have to be huge to get brutally hot in the summer.

The first place insulated is the roof deck because it’s a significant difference in maintaining a manageable temperature to finish the rest of the building. 🥵

This Franklin work shed received 2” of closed-cell spray foam on the roof deck and 1.5” on the walls. The result? A stronger building, better moisture control, and a space that will stay dramatically cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter before the OSB ever goes up.

Yesterday in Baxter, a customer took me through his property on a Can-Am across a crystal clear creek and to a hidden cemetery deep in the woods with graves from the Mexican War era.
