A home worth coming home to.

For many of our clients, building a timber-frame home is the realization of a dream they've carried for years.

A place to gather with family, enjoy the changing seasons, and appreciate the little moments that make a house feel like home.

From the warmth of exposed timbers and natural stone to the views framed by expansive windows, every detail contributes to a home that's uniquely theirs.

At Timbercraft, we believe great design is about more than how a home looks. It's about how it feels to live there.

Rough-sawn character. Precision joinery.

There's something special about the natural texture of rough-sawn timbers.

At Timbercraft, we can bring that rustic, textured appearance back to our surfaced-four-sides (S4S) timbers, combining the character of traditional rough-sawn wood with the precision needed for our timber frame joinery.

The result is a frame with the craftsmanship you expect and the character that makes each home unique.

Craftsmanship you can see. Quality built to last.

It's the details that give a timber frame its character.

From the exposed joinery and hardwood pegs to the rich wood grain and carefully fitted connections, every element contributes to the finished structure.

These are the details that turn a timber frame into something worth appreciating for generations.

There’s a point on raising day when months of design, engineering and shop work suddenly become very real.
As each bent goes up, the joinery, curved timbers and small details that were carefully worked through in our shop begin to define the actual spaces of the home.
That’s the payoff behind the process—not simply getting the frame standing, but seeing the craftsmanship become part of the architecture.

Every timber frame starts as an idea.

Before there are timbers in our shop, we're working through how the frame will look, how it will connect with the architecture, and how it will shape the spaces inside the home.

Then the drawings become something very real.

These images show that progression—from the original 3D design to full-size Douglas fir timbers being assembled and checked on our shop floor in Tecumseh.

It's one of our favorite parts of the process: watching something that existed on a screen begin to look like the home we've been designing with our client.

Some of the smallest details require the most craftsmanship.

These decorative corbels start with a drawing, but bringing that detail into a heavy Douglas fir timber takes careful layout, cutting, shaping and sanding by hand.

It's the kind of detail that may only be one small part of the finished timber frame — but it's also what makes a custom frame feel truly custom.

From the drawings to the shop floor, our craftsmen are involved in the details that make each Timbercraft project unique.

A smooth raising day starts long before the truck arrives on site.

Before a Timbercraft frame leaves our Michigan shop, we pre-fit the joinery, make the final adjustments, sand the timbers and apply the finish.

It's one more opportunity for our craftsmen to put their hands on every piece and make sure the frame is ready before it ever reaches the jobsite.

The result is a better-looking frame and a much smoother installation for the crew in the field.

BUILT FOR LIFE.

A timber frame shouldn't simply be added to a home. It should be part of the home from the very beginning.

At Timbercraft, architectural design and timber frame design work together—allowing the structure to help define the great room, kitchen, dining areas and the way those spaces connect.

The result is more than exposed timbers. It's a home where the architecture and craftsmanship belong together.
