Look up!

Tonight in skies across Western Australia the moon will turn a shade of red - the result of the last total lunar eclipse observable in Australia for the next three years.

The red hue is caused by light from the sun bending through the Earth’s atmosphere.

Given the size of our State, what you will be able to see will depend on where you are in Western Australia. However, the Moon will be visible right across Western Australia when it's completely eclipsed.

This rare phenomenon will reach maximum penumbral eclipse at 6:59pm WA time.
