🌟 This week’s featured business is Casafico, pioneers in sustainable building products.

🌍 Located in Braeside, Casafico is transforming the building industry by manufacturing high-quality, eco-friendly products from recycled materials like glass, polystyrene and other aggregates.

Their innovative product range includes Vetro Uno, Levelling Coat (a rendering product made from waste), and Tecoblock lightweight masonry blocks. These sustainable alternatives help reduce landfill waste without compromising on durability and quality.

Casafico has been family-run for over 20 years, starting in Kingston, Melbourne, and recently expanding to Queensland. Ric and Samantha Mucci are passionately driven by a deep commitment to family and a vision to leave a better world for future generations.

Their motto says it all: "Built by our family today, for your family tomorrow."

As Samantha shares, "I'm passionate about instilling good habits in my child and leaving the planet in a profoundly improved state." With a background in marketing, Samantha has played a key role in the company’s expansion, while championing the mission of turning waste into valuable building materials.

🏡 Casafico offers free consultations to homeowners, builders, and architects, and hosts Saturday training sessions (by appointment) for industry professionals to learn about their eco-friendly finishes and application methods.

✨ Fun Fact: Their recycling plant features a pizza oven coated in their signature Coharo Levelling Coat – proving their products can be both practical and fun!

Casafico was recently honoured with the Product Innovation and Technology award at the Kingston Council Sustainable Business Awards, showcasing their dedication to sustainability.

Casafico is a family-owned Victorian manufacturer making premium building materials from recycled waste. The range includes lightweight and efficient construction options that can replace scarce resources like sand and marble with recycled materials ♻

Casafico has also introduced the first sustainable Venetian plaster, made from glass instead of non-renewable marble, increasing the company's glass recycling capacity from 34 tonnes per year to 30 tonnes per *month* 📈

Casafico is a finalist in the Premier's Sustainability Awards 2023 – Waste and Recycling Solutions category, sponsored by Environment Protection Authority Victoria.

We’re finalists in the Premier’s Sustainability Awards!
In the past year, our eco-friendly products have saved 604 tonnes of CO2 emissions and diverted 100 metric tonnes of waste from landfills 10 of which went to the Metro tunnel project, where our Coharo Levelling coat replaced traditional shotcrete.
We’re thrilled to be recognised alongside so many Victorian changemakers
who are leading the way towards a more sustainable future – especially on the
21 st anniversary of the awards!

In the last year we have diverted 100 tonnes of waste from landfill and successfully recycled it into premium building materials.
Today we are recognised by our council as a finalist in this years sustainability awards and couldn’t be more proud and happy of all our achievements and especially proud to be part of this wonderful community.

Thank you to our friends at ASPIRE PL who nominated Casafico to be featured in CSIRO’s science week activity “Glass - more than meets the eye. Scientists demonstrated our coatings and blocks that use waste glass instead of natural resources to an inquisitive group of grade 6er’s
The lesson plan demonstrates everything we stand for as a company - protecting our earth for future generations and educating our youth to think about innovation. Our future is bright, We can’t wait to see what wonderful earth saving innovations we may have inspired through this exercise.
