Conrad Schooneveldt doesn’t waste a cut.

A decade of practice, from Parsons in New York to studios in Amsterdam, then Melbourne, then a workshop in Taggerty, shows up in every proportion.

Sketch, scale model, prototype, then machine-cut to precision. Every step earns the next. And our NSW Spotted Gum gets to be part of the result. 🙌🏻

The Babushka Collection is one of the latest pieces to come off his bench. It is built around a Dutch idea: gezellig, meaning warmth, ease and togetherness. Pieces that nest or spread through a space depending on what the moment needs. In our Spotted Gum, it’s got character to spare. 👌🏼

You can see it in person at the Conrad-S exhibition, Designed by Human, Cut by Machine, as part of Melbourne Design Week. A working recreation of his Taggerty studio, sketches, prototypes, Babushka, and all.

Conrad, we’re quietly very proud this timber ended up in your hands.

Go see him. 👏🏻

When you’ve got kids, your social circle kind of follows their rhythm.

School drop-off, the local park, birthday parties.

We’ve been crossing paths with Craig like that for years (5 to be exact!)

At some point between those moments, he mentioned they were retrofitting their place here in Canberra. When he realised we worked with timber, he started asking really good questions.

For their retrofit, designed and delivered by , Craig and his family chose our Karri. It was one of our limited runs (now fully allocated) but the reason behind the choice mattered more than the rarity.

Craig grew up in WA, spending time “down south” around Margaret River. Karri wasn’t just a species, it was familiar. Something remembered.

And in the house, it’s used lightly, but deliberately.
A custom step. A window seat. Shelving in a kids’ room.
Small moments, but the kind you interact with every day.

Paired with salvaged Jarrah from , there’s a quiet continuity to the material palette. Nothing overworked, just thoughtful decisions that add up.

The project is also part of Sustainable House Day 2026 presented by and will open its door (literally) for others to see what’s possible when you take a more deliberate approach to materials.

Visit for all the details.

And Craig, thanks for including us in the story.
See your around school. 😉

Looking forward to being part of the Build Insite Hub Launch next Thursday at Circa Studio, Port Melbourne.

It’s shaping up to be a great afternoon bringing together builders, suppliers and industry leaders to share ideas, experiences and what’s actually working on site.

Alongside the supplier displays, there’ll be a walkthrough of hardware and the Selection Centre, plus a live panel with builders talking through the realities of today’s projects.

It also marks the launch of the Build Insite Hub, built to support builders with ongoing insights and updates.

We’ll be there with samples, and always keen to be part of the conversation.

📍 Circa Studio, 128 Salmon St, Port Melbourne
🗓 Thursday 23 April, 2–5pm
👉 FREE event, but pls register via our friends at .insite

Alright, this one’s a bit special. We’ve been chipping away at it for a while… and it’s finally ready!

ReFramed - a modular internal glazing frames, done in Crafted Hardwoods timber. 👌🏼

Curious? have just run a feature on it, and the brochure’s up on the website too.

Raw site moments. Buzz in the air.

111 Bourke Street is nearly there, and the foyer is coming to life. 🤩

We love this stage, when the drawings turn real and the timber starts doing its thing. 👌🏼

Our Blackbutt is showing up across posts, beams, wall lining, seating and tables, carrying a consistent thread through the space as it all comes together.

Completion is landing this month.
Grand reveal coming very soon.
What a space!

🌟 We have been shortlisted at the Sustainability Awards for Green Building Material! 🌟

Being recognized among Australia’s most sustainable and innovative products is an incredible honor.

How are we different?

Our mission is simple yet ambitious: to produce a timber that addresses current supply challenges while remaining deeply rooted in sustainability.

We transform our most abundant wood resources — low-value pulp logs — into premium hardwoods with the look, feel, and properties of century-old trees. In just one day. This revolutionary process is made possible by a world-first technology developed right here in Australia.

The result?

A truly sustainable building material that redefines what hardwood can be in the modern era.

Good times are even better when sustainability is built into every seat and sip!

Check out 's greener-than-green beer garden featuring Picnic Tables by using Crafted Hardwoods Blackbutt quarter-sawn.

Christian & Nicole's philosophy to not only produce beautiful, enduring pieces but to also ensure that the forests from which they come thrive for the future has made our partnership with a natural fit right from the start.

From the forest floor to the finished product, our collaboration represents what’s possible when sustainability and craftsmanship work hand in hand. We’re proud to join forces as we both continue to craft, innovate, and inspire — because good friends and good beer deserve a great table!

Cheers!
