Precision matters at every stage of a build, especially when it comes to weight and balance.

NWI Group was proud to support MORE 4x4's impressive INEOS Grenadier project as its weighing equipment partner, supplying the Dini Argeo WWS wireless axle weighing pads used to capture accurate individual axle and total vehicle weights.

Portable, precise and built for demanding applications, the WWS system makes it possible to weigh vehicles wherever the work takes place.

A fantastic build and a great partnership to be part of.

What does a bullbar really add to the weight of a 4WD? ⚖️

In the latest episode of MORE 4x4’s What S**t Weighs, the team puts a Defender 110 on the scales before and after fitting a Toro Bullbar - and the numbers tell the story.

NWI Group is proud to support the series by supplying Dini Argeo portable vehicle weighing scales, helping the team demonstrate how quickly modifications can affect a vehicle’s overall weight and axle distribution.

It’s practical, real-world information for anyone modifying a 4WD or preparing for their next touring adventure.

Thanks to the MORE 4x4 team for the NWI mention. We’re excited to see what goes on the scales next!

And of course, do get in touch if you're interested in your own set of Dini Argeo Axle Weighing pads, or any other type of vehicle wei

Why Hipot Calibration Matters for Safety/Brand Protection; Brands We Service

When your brand rides on electrical safety, a sloppy hipot isn’t just a bad reading—it’s a liability. NWI Calibration keeps your withstand/insulation testers honest so a PASS is truly safe and a FAIL is truly actionable.

Why it Matters
Protect people & brand: Catch insulation breakdown before it becomes shock, fire, or recall risk.

Cut false results: Proper calibration reduces false passes (dangerous) and false fails (costly downtime).

Hold the line on specs: Verify output voltage accuracy (AC/DC), leakage current measurement, ramp rate, test time, trip thresholds, arc detection, and interlock functions.

Stay audit-ready: Traceable certificates with as-found/as-left data to satisfy QA, customers, and regulators.

Brands We Service
Hioki, Quadtech, Chroma, GW Instek, Kikusui (and more).

Why NWI
NATA-accredited calibration lab, ISO/IEC 17025 compliant processes

Fast turnarounds, clear reports, and real humans who pick up the phone

Need certainty before the next safety audit? Email us your model and serial—We’ll send a quote and lead time.

Why pro finishing pays for itself (and then some)

Metal doesn’t leave the shop—your reputation does. Our latest Fabrication blog post breaks down why professional finishing should be part of your project plan, not an afterthought.

What you’ll learn
- Durability that lasts: coatings and treatments that fight corrosion, abrasion, UV, and washdowns

- Better appearance, better brand: uniform colour/texture for client-facing parts and architectural steel

- Spec compliance: finishes matched to environment, industry standards, and warranty requirements

- Lower lifetime cost: fewer call-backs, less rework, longer service intervals

Speed + quality control: streamlined prep, masking, and QA so installs go right the first time

If you’re weighing “good enough” vs “built to last,” this is your sign.

Uneven Ground = Unreliable Weights

Site surfaces are rarely perfectly level. Even small gradients can shift load distribution across tyres and axles, leading to inaccurate axle totals.

Impact
False overloads → unnecessary rework and delays
Missed overloads → safety and compliance risk (CoR)
Reduced confidence in screening data

Solution
Deploy Dini Argeo levelling kit/ramps to create a stable, repeatable weighing surface, and implement a brief bubble-level verification before use.

Implementing levelling mats/ramps and a quick bubble-level check delivers immediate gains: it stabilises the weighing surface, improves repeatability, and reduces variance caused by camber, ruts, or soft ground. The result is more reliable axle and gross totals, fewer false overloads, and clearer Chain of Responsibility evidence. Consistent setup also shortens screening time (less re-weighing), strengthens audit traceability, and builds operator confidence that each reading reflects the actual vehicle load—not the yard surface.

Diagnosing Power Quality Issues in Industrial Environments

Unexpected equipment downtime, voltage fluctuations, and flickering lights are common symptoms of underlying power quality problems. Identifying the root cause, however, requires accurate and continuous measurement.

NWI are the leading HIOKI supplier in Australia, and provide advanced HIOKI power quality analysers and loggers designed to help facilities monitor, record, and analyse critical electrical parameters — including voltage, current, harmonics, and transients.

With precise data, engineers can pinpoint disturbances, assess their frequency and severity, and implement targeted corrective actions such as filtering, harmonic mitigation, or infrastructure upgrades.

Depending on the application, HIOKI offers a range of specialised instruments:

- PQ3198 Power Quality Analyser – Class A compliance, comprehensive transient detection, and full-featured analysis for industrial and utility systems.

- PQ3100 Power Quality Analyser – A versatile solution for routine monitoring and troubleshooting.

- PW3360-20 Power & Energy Logger – Compact and ideal for long-term energy trend analysis.

- PW8001 High-Precision Power Analyser – For detailed laboratory or R&D evaluation of power conversion efficiency.

By integrating accurate, real-time measurement tools into your maintenance strategy, you can enhance power stability, improve energy efficiency, and extend the lifespan of critical equipment.

Reliable data leads to reliable operations. Learn more about our HIOKI range:

Did you know that the heaviest single object ever weighed was a steel casting for an offshore oil platform?

This massive structure, created for the Hibernia oil field off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada, tipped the scales at an incredible 90,000 tons, roughly 81.65 million kilograms (or about the weight of 900 blue whales).

To achieve this, engineers employed an advanced hydraulic weighing system which are designed to handle extreme forces. Unlike standard strain-based load cells, hydraulic systems measure force through fluid pressure changes within sealed chambers. Each support point, or “load module,” contains a piston that compresses hydraulic fluid under the applied load. The resulting pressure is converted into a force reading, and multiple modules are used in parallel to calculate the total weight.

This approach offers several advantages: it distributes the load evenly, maintains accuracy under dynamic conditions, and performs reliably in demanding industrial environments. It also allows for continuous monitoring and redundancy, ensuring the system remains stable and precise throughout the process.

The weighing of the Hibernia platform casting remains a remarkable example of how hydraulic technology and precision engineering can come together to measure the seemingly immeasurable.
