🐾 A very special visitor stopped by today!

Meet Opal 💜
This beautiful girl is a true Kapunda survivor. After swallowing a corn cob, Opal faced a life-threatening medical battle that resulted in severe pneumonia, multiple surgeries and even the removal of part of a lung. Thanks to the dedication of her family and veterinary team, she's made an incredible recovery.

We're thrilled to see Opal out and about, enjoying life's adventures and paying us a visit at Kapunda Home Hardware. What a tough little fighter, and amazing fur parents! 🐶💪

Adelaide gardens have had a serious soaking lately... but winter isn't the time to switch off.

One of the biggest mistakes gardeners make after heavy rain is focusing only on what's happening above ground.

The real action is happening beneath your feet.

After prolonged wet conditions, it's worth asking:

✔️ Is your soil draining properly?
✔️ Has rainfall caused compaction in garden beds?
✔️ Are roots getting enough oxygen?
✔️ Is soil biology still active?
✔️ Will your garden be ready to surge into spring?

A simple winter tip: avoid working wet soil and add organic matter such as compost or well-rotted manure once conditions allow. This helps improve soil structure, encourages beneficial soil life, and creates the air pockets roots need to thrive.

Winter is the perfect time to rebuild your soil while plant growth slows down. The work you do now can make a huge difference when spring arrives.
