The heater went on for the first time this year yesterday.
Not because we were being stubborn, and not because we were trying to save money — the house simply didn't need it.
It was the 1st of June, a rainy day, with no warmth from the sun available.
Lower power bills are a nice bonus, but they're not the main driver behind energy-efficient design. Comfort is the real win.
A well-designed home can capture natural light and warmth throughout the cooler months, creating a more comfortable, enjoyable place to live while reducing reliance on heating.
That's the value of good passive design.
