GE Nippers

The Myth
Up to a point GE nippers were not dated and the family owned company was so proud of their product rightly so.
As a result they would handle any mishap regardless of who was at fault. This got abused/ taken for a ride a dark culture which exists in farriery.
With no date tracking any tool could be sent in for repair or under warranty.
Warranty myth
There is NO 6 month / lifetime unconditional warranty on hoof nippers. Its a perception /asumption
Misunderstanding of a good product made and lasted the test of time.
There is no warranty on
Wear and tear (sharp blades go blunt)
No warranty on tool abuse or modifications ( rebuilds included)
Tool Makers
There is a manufacturing warranty , when does that expire.
Nobody knows
Tool makers know what is at fault and will do what they can to repair, fix , replace at their discretion. Costs may be applied for labour and delivery/post the replacement part is free.
The six month warranty thing seems to be taken for granted
Great hoof care professionals know that the tools they need are a cost to running a businesses.

Does not function

This battery ran out it only lasted six months.

GE Nippers
The legend The Myth

The Legend

There is no denying that historically GE nippers were the best on this god given earth.
Here is one reason
GE are manufactured in USA State of California a very dry hard climate
Naturally made to meet these conditions. Having worked there note: If you got six months out them you had done well. Farriers would have their nippers on a rotation to be rebuilt on a month by month basis one in one out GE offered that service.
Lopez still does fantastic
In the the late 70’s GE arrived in our workshop ( UK) a very limited supply
Prior to that we used Diamond nippers ( nothing wrong with them)
No surprise GE just lasted
I had a pair of GEs that lasted 4 years why? Wet climate
Lovely soft hooves. 4 year progressive apprenticeship from Zero trims to 6 full shoeings and trims 4th year. That’s why
Yes I pulled nails and chips occurred
And got a telling off from the Boss
No blame on GE
Was absolutely roasted by my employer in CA for same.
GE were very good and still are
Early nippers were never date stamped and the after sales service was fantastic in the US.
Had the pleasure of meeting Beth Gardiner Husband Bob owner of GE at variou events , woundeful people just happy to help.
If you love your GE nippers keep using them
Note: The Old Classic with no date are just lovely to rebuild if you find em.

We got smashed with orders for Regular 15” & 14” nippers
Yep sold out until raw materials arrive should have some made up by end of April
Good problem to have
You can only do so much with one pair of hands
We still have our Resect nippers available.
Rebuilds flat out

Customer service update

We understand that accidents happen, we never say Never.
This time of year dry and hard conditions. If your nippers by the customers perception are are not function as they should, there is a reason. We are happy to discuss how it can be improved.
Questions that may help.
How old are they?
How much work am I doing?
What’s the environment doing right now we are working in ? Ect
Please remember sharp metal blades wear out. Good chef’s keep there blades sharp. Nothing wrong with giving your blades a touch up.
Will post a help on that asap
